Escape Hour in Edinburgh was our second attempt at an escape room. We’d stopped in Edinburgh for some dinner on our way back from visiting Linlithgow Palace and realised we still had plenty of time to spare. so a quick internet search found us this place that had a special deal price for couples and we were sold. located just of the golden mile it was an easy walk from where we were in Grassmarket square. Escape hour offered a spy based puzzle room. The plot was: you are spies looking around an office. The owner has it booby trapped and you get locked in and need to escape within 60 minutes. Having a proper plot/theme to the puzzle made this much more enjoyable then the other ones we have done without a theme. So you spend the next hour finding keys, solving puzzles and having a great time. They do have a system in place to give you hints so you don’t get stuck on the one puzzle for the full hour. We got out in time(and keeping our perfect record) and we were quite proud to do it with just us and that was probably mainly because we had prior escape game experience. All in all it was a great way to spend an hour(well 90 minutes with the briefing before and celebrating afterwards. :p). Great fun. Highly recommended.

Grab a group of friends(up to 5 people can play at once) and go have an enjoyable hour. Espace Hour currently have one game, a spy game that you have to find clues to open the safe and they are launching another diamond smuggler game shortly. For those not familiar with the escape room concept you have an hour to work out various puzzles and how to escape a locked room before it explodes, you run out of oxygen or generally you loose. This escape room was good fun with the reception staff able to see the room via cameras and give clues if you get stuck so that you aren’t spending too much time being very stuck and not making progress. We got out with 30 seconds to spare having needed one clue. It was really good fun and I think we’ll be back to try the other room once it’s opened.
