Situated in the basement at The Albany Hotel is a trés cosy eaterie by the name of, «Enjoy Dining». It is a lovely and intimate place, but, totally without any hint of snobbishness. I was welcomed and showered to my table in the most friendly of ways. There was just the right number of tables that made it all look nice and relaxin. For my Starter, I chose the Mixed Platter of Chicken Pakora, Haggis Fritter and Onion Bharji. These were just amazing and so fresh. Whilst they were all of a very high quality, my favorite was the Haggis Fritter. And, after seeing the word«Burger» I, er chose, the Classic Beef Burger. This was good, but was not one of the better that I have had. A good evening although, «Enjoy» had no drinks menu. At least I didn’t get to see one if it existed, I was asked if we wanted wine with my meal, but, that was it. 3 Stars.

I had an enjoyable evening here on a voucher deal for a sharing platter, main and glass of wine each for two. Enjoy Dining is tucked away downstairs under the Albany Hotel and is an elaborate mix of ‘multi-fare’ I think is how they described it. It has a menu of Scottish and Indian standbys as it appears to be run and staffed by several people from India. The mixed platter demonstrated this mix of Scottish and Indian foods: it was mainly pakoras consisting of breaded and fried veggies, chicken and also one with haggis inside(for the vegetarians out there, they didn’t warn us head of time that the mixed platter contained meat but maybe I missed it on the menu). For the mains, my dining partner and I each had the salmon in béchamel sauce, which was fabulous. My only gripes here were that the portion was quite small and that they didn’t tell us ahead of time about the supplement for ordering this on our voucher. I appreciate transparency and clarity. We were both up for dessert! The caramelised lemon tart with strawberries looked fabulous but was a bit stodgy and lacked flavour. The same went for the chocolate fudge cake. Overall, I had a great salmon main dish and the atmosphere was nice. However, the starter and dessert left a bit to be desired. Also, I was extremely frustrated about the booking: I had phoned to reserve a table for two on a Saturday night but the man on the phone said he only had 8:15 available although he thought we could probably be accommodated at 8pm. We showed up at 8pm as appointed to find the restaurant half empty! We were starving by that point and had wished he had given us a table earlier as we had wanted. All this said, word on the street is that Enjoy Dining is closing down soon, so maybe something else will fill this nice restaurant space.
