Alas! Farewell, faithful Tibbles! It’s been a good three years, but your time is up… Tibbles*, my HTC Desire Z, was definitely on its last legs and, having recently become the owner of a MacBook Pro, it seemed that the logical next step was to turn to the dark side and get an iPhone — an iPhone 5c, in fact, because who can resist pretty colours? Cameron, the staff member dealing with me, was outstanding. He talked me through a range of tariff options, explaining the terms and benefits very clearly(I am terrified of contracts and have been pretty much perpetually PAYG) without ever being patronising. They were having some system issues centrally and so the whole process of credit checks, activation codes etc took a pretty long time, but he somehow managed to remain upbeat and conversational while being simultaneously genuinely apologetic. He even offered to set my phone up for me once everything else was sorted out. The store is clean and bright, and seemed to be doing pretty good trade — January rush, I think — and the other staff members seemed equally efficient and personable. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here to discuss tariff upgrades or handset accessories. *Little side note. Tibbles was not named after a cat, but after P T Tibbles, who reversed his name to become P T Selbit, and who is widely credited with being the first to perform the now-classic«Sawing Through a Woman» illusion. That has nothing to do with phones but I thought I should explain.
