Psst Yes — you over there — you paying attention? I’m going to let you into a little secret, right here, right now. Blink, and you will miss it, as it disappears down into Unilocal’s archives. Crusts is an old school sandwich shop with some of the best lentil soup I’ve tasted outside of my mother in laws. I can get prawn marie rose and sun dried tomato sandwiches there. In fact, I can get most things in between two slices of bread there that are legal. Stovies for you meat eaters are sold on a regular basis. What tips it over the edge into amazingness is the friendliness of the ladies who work there — I thought my colleague at work was on some world-loving-too-much-coffee-drinking-high when we waxed lyrical about her ‘mothers’ at Crusts… but it’s true. On my second visit, a week after my first, I forgot my wallet. Quick as a flash, the lady said — ‘I’ve seen you in here before right, you work near here? Come back tomorrow and sort me out then. No problem.‘ I’d been in once before. On my third visit, I sorted it out, no fuss, no problem. Standing in a queue, each person in front of me is referred to by name, and their regular orders are just pulled together *like that*. I feel like this is what service is. Oh, and they do some fantastic peppermint slice, too.
