In addition to a shop, Baxter’s also have their very own café in Ocean Terminal so you can sample the delights yourself. I have a very obsessive personality so when I like a song, for example, I will listen to it religiously until I get completely sick of it. This is the same with things I eat. I have been a life long fan of Heinz but to be honest, I’ve recently gone of their stodgy soups. I can’t believe I’ve only recently discovered Baxter’s soup… I’ve always known of it’s existence but my mum has always bought Heinz so I’m just used to it. I guess I’m a creature of habit… I can’t believe I’m blabbing on about mine and my families soup habits. Anyways… since sampling the delights of Baxters soups 3 weeks ago I have been eating them like they’re going out of fashion. I’m not kidding when I say I’ve been living off these soups for lunch, dinner and any snacks in between. I’m not advocating an all soup diet, as I’m not sure how healthy that is… but they’re just so darn good! My favourites are carrot and coriander, chicken broth and cock-a-leekie. They just taste like good old fashioned home made soup and not like some other processed crap. I can’t believe I’ve been missing out for 21 years, having said that… I’ll probably make myself sick of it in due time. So… as you can imagine, I was ecstatic when I saw the Baxter’s café! Needless to say I went for soup of the day which, to my delight, was chicken broth. Mmm… It came in a square bowl with a generous helping of bread. I don’t usually dip bread in soup but this bread was amazing, not to crispy but not too soft either… it was perfect. The pancakes were very tempting too. maybe next time. It wasn’t just the food that was top notch, the café itself is gorgeous. Located on the top floor of Ocean Terminal it has a fantastic view over the River Forth and on a sunny day it’s great with the sun shining in. Bliss.
