Probably the worst dining experience ever. We choose to go here with 6 friends as heard good things about it. The drinks orders took forever to order and then at lest 30−40mins to come. My friend waited so long that he went to the shop to buy his own soft drink. I am not joking. Never experienced anything like it. Took about 40mins for starters to come out. Then when they did come out, only half of the starters were brought out. They had forgotten 4 of the starters. Not forgotten as in still in the kitchen, I mean not even cooked them. The guy in charge blamed the waitress but not sure it was her fault as she seemed to be writing everything down. The food was alright, nothing special. I honestly can’t even remember the food as I was so annoyed about the dining experience. The manager person did apologise and brought free popadoms. I then asked if we could have all our starters for free as compensation. They manager didnt really seem up for this. In the end he brought us a free bottle of wine. Maybe it was just a bad night but will not be going back and telling anyone else not to go either!

I really wanted the Wee Gurkha to be great as I had heard a lot about it, and on the back of good publicity I had suggested it would be a good place for a group(of 8 friends) meal. Unfortunately things started going wrong straight away. After arriving on time, we had the corner of the room, which we couldn’t see, pointed to us and something uttered. Not sure what that meant, we waited around another minute or so till we were told the rest of our party were already at the table. We were still not shown to the table. Drinks order was taken quickly, however when it came a few items were missing. Another 20 minutes(30 minutes into the experience) went and we were able to order our food, and enquire as to the whereabouts of the extra drinks which were ordered but didn’t come. 40 minutes later the starters came out. Well, only 4 out of 8 starters came out. Apparently the other 4 orders weren’t even taken as they had to be ordered fresh, and took another 15 minutes to arrive which isn’t great seeing it was half the order. Alarm bells were now ringing very loudly and some of the party wanted to leave. Putting this into context, I would say the restaurant(a Saturday night) was around ¼−1/3 capacity. Apparently one member of staff hadn’t turned up — either they have super powers or something really isn’t right here. When the rest of the starters arrived, long after the original batch had been eaten, another drinks order was taken — with the original drinks mentioned above still not at the table. This led to one of our party leaving and buying his own soft drinks from a local shop. The manager did come and apologise about the wait, giving us some free popadoms. He explained they had been very busy on takeaway. Why on earth would you prioritise takeaway over those paying to sit in your restaurant? Why not tell people no more orders? I now felt like I was on an episode of Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. If this wasn’t bad enough it took almost 45 minutes to get our mains, at least with only one rice missing this time! The food itself, I thought was really good although I would not pay extra for the goat curry which was a bit fatty. The food quality is the only thing stopping this being a 1 star review. The fact I’ve only used one sentence to describe the food shows what sort of an experience this was. I do not think any of us will be back.

This new place to eat in the village area of East Kilbride opened approx 3 months ago. Took advantage of an Amazon Local voucher saving us 50% on the Nepalese Taster Menu for 2, we paid £17 for two, normal price for this is £16.95 per person. You can choose any 2 starters, 3 mains, rice & naan bread, as it’s Nepalese we ordered 100% Nepalese dishes rather than the extensive«Indian» dishes which are also available. We started with Chicken Momo’s, which are dumplings stuffed with spiced minced chicken and chicken Choyla a sort of sizzling diced chicken with spices, both very good. followed this with Lamb Simikot, Chicken Sherpa Curry and Chicken Bhojpuri with rice and garlic naan. All the dishes arrive in brass pots and served on large brass plates, all looks impressive. I would say Nepalese dishes are more subtlety spiced than your usual Indian fare and make a great change, definitely worth a try. The quality of the food was very good with no complaints and look forward to working through all the Nepalese dishes. Good deals mid week and savings on take away, check out the website. Good atmosphere and service, we will be back. Check out the singing bowl when you get you bill !
