Poundland

Dumbarton High Street seems to be going downhill a bit in the past few years, with many of the ‘nicer’ places moving out and cheaper replacements moving in. One of these is Poundland, who have been in the town for a few years now.
They sell just about everything you could possibly imaging, but as you guess from the name, everything is £1. Well, almost everything I got a bill for 50p but apparently that’s because I’d bought some biscuits that were on a 2-for-£1 deal. How confusing!
A lot of the stuff is complete and utter junk, and not worth £1 of anyone’s money, but there are some really good finds and many things, such as DIY goods, cleaning materials, toys and kitchen items are actually excellent value for money.
Unfortunately it’s one of those places where you always end up spending far more than you’d expected — the temptation to pick things up because ‘it’s only £1′ soon adds up and you end up with a load of jiffy bags, chocolate, shampoothe list goes on!
