Ahhh this takes me back. This was my first watering hole, back when it was called the Cladhan. These days it’s a family run hotel/restaurant/bar which, whilst not up market, offers a good value, tasty meal from a large menu. I’ve eaten here many times in the past(I even got married here) and it’s never disappointed. It’s never amazed me either but that’s not the point. This is a local eatery, reliable, and dependable with a menu that rarely changes, I’m sure there is a hotel like this in every large town in Scotland. Tonight I had the Boston burger which was tasty enough if a little overcooked, bacon, mozarella and BBQ sauce, with a good portion of chunky chips. My Dad had the New York strip steak, which comes in a nice dark bbq sauce with fried mushrooms, and my Mum had the haggis stack. All scoffed down with little complaint. The service was ok, a little slow but my parents(who eat here a lot) reckon she was new and we weren’t in a hurry anyway. There are better places to eat in the area but for reliability, and good tasty simple food, it’s not failed me yet.
