My pre-​salsa food search brought me back to Two to Four yesterday. Having dined here in 2009, I remembered a kitchen producing serious modern British food and indeed, the Michelin inspectors have already been once
The a la carte menu has some great looking dishes on it with prices to match but their £15 set dinner for 2 courses represents great value for the level of cooking. The blackboard also offers several specials of the day
I added a half portion of deep fried courgette to my order — this is almost the house speciality and I advise you not to miss out on this when you visit. I was very impressed that the waitress offered a half portion when I was hesitant to order a whole portion just for myself
A nice touch was an amuse bouche of hummus with courgette and red onion served with toasted bread. They obviously sell a lot of their deep fried courgette because the watery inside part of the courgette goes into the hummus
I started my meal with chicken livers on brioche, served with caramelised pear and salad leaves. The livers were perfectly cooked with a hint of pink in the middle but wonderfully soft. The seasoning was perfect and I liked the idea of the pear
Those of you who read my reviews won’t be surprised to know I chose the slow cooked pork belly with celeriac and sprouting broccoli. The generous slab of pork was flavoursome and the crackling top class. The celeriac was sweet but I did appreciate the crunchy savoury deep fried courgette strips to add another savoury note to the dish
As I was going to salsa, I was prudent in turning down dessert but there were some tempting choices on the menu
I think I shall be persuading my salsa friend Hilary to make another trip here in the near future

The best restaurant in Surrey! We’ve eaten here 4 times now and have never left disappointed. Having eaten at alot of the best restaurants in the county this one outweighs all the others by a long way.

Have had a couple of wonderful meals in here! Another good one for a special occasion.

They now only offer a budget lunch during the week, which is in fact great value and indeed absolutely delicious! The wine list is also substantial and reasonably priced. Under new ownership and highly recommended!

I’m so happy I remembered to review this place, as folks really do need to know how brilliant it is. I have been a couple of times before, always bowled over by the quality and sheer class of the place, but when I was there at the beginning of this month for my father in law’s birthday celebrations, this restaurant cemented itself as a top place for fine dining and elegant atmosphere, without pretention or airs.
First, we were all made to feel very welcome and relaxed right away. The upstairs room we were given was beautiful, and although the building is quite old with low timber beams, there was still a sense of space and light.
The food was exquisite, everything simply melted in one’s mouth. I had the lobster linguini to start and the steak as mains. The wine was excellent, perfectly matching each course.
But, the most impressive thing of the evening was the wait staff and hostess – it was a very important night, and the attention and care given by the hostess made the night feel so special and personal, like they truly wanted to make it the best night they could for us, and they really, really did.
