Mister Magnolia’s is a characterful coffee and gift shop in the heart of Ditchling. We popped in for the first time today and were very impressed with the set up. You can’t miss the shop as there is a slide on the roof, and the quirky décor continues inside with aspects that will appeal to adults and children alike. The café is deceptively large. There is a large seating area with lots of tables and chairs, plus a sofa at the front allowing you to people watch while enjoying your coffee. There is a great children’s area at the back with lots of toys and boys for the kiddies, my favourite was the rocking horse that even my four month old got to try(with a helping hand from Mum and Dad!) There is also a patio garden out the back with plentiful seating and even a boat for the little one’s to play in! Apparently there is colouring in for the children too, and upstairs there are changing facilities in the shape of an antique pram. The menu is small but offers plenty of vegan and gluten free options, and the kiddies menu is extensive, offering lots of healthy alternatives to the usual chicken nuggets. We stuck to tea, coffee and cake this time, and I can certainly vouch for the rocky road which was delicious. They also serve freshly baked pizza on a Friday evening. As well as being a café, they also sell an small selection of gifts and antiques, making it worthy of a visit, even if you aren’t stopping for food. The staff were really friendly and chatty too. Overall, this is a gem of a place which we will certainly be returning to whenever possible.
