This is a nice, laid back pub. The staff are friendly and there’s a real mix of customers. It serves nice beer(April Fool is my favourite) and nice pub grub(veggie burgers are good). Thursday night is quiz night: £1 entry for each member of your team and you could win a £50 prize. There’s a large beer garden behind the pub, and a train departures display screen if you’re heading for a train.

I popped into this pub at the weekend, welcomed by a lovely lady behind the bar. Nice décor and relaxed atmosphere.

This pub used to be a real dive, opposite the station an bedecked in St George’s flags looked more like something out of a dodgy estate. However, the refurbishment was drastic, gone is all the jingoism and threatening attitude and you can now wait for a train in comfort(there is even a display showing trains arrival and departure times), have breakfast and a decent lunch or dinner. My pie was OK, of the mass catering variety and for this reason I can’t really give it more stars, but there is a good atmosphere and a good selection of drinks, so altogether a good place. It shouldn’t be too difficult to improve catering standards and for this place to become one of the best pubs around.

Great food great choice and friendly service, the veg risotto is particulary nice and best pint of green king ipa for miles around, and to top it off all at very reasonable price

Great stuff. Used to be terrible but they’ve refurbished. Nice décor, pleasant staff, beer tastes good because they obviously clean the pipes now. Haven’t tried the food yet. Recommended
