Judging by the name of the restaurant, I did not have a lot of high hopes for a dining experience but I was pleasantly surprised! We started with the dough balls and dipping sauces, and they were fabulous! My husband had a thin crust pizza called the American, and the crust was so thin and crisp, it was astounding! My dish was risotto in a white wine sauce with cheese, chicken and mushrooms with pesto and baby salad greens. I was not disappointed in my selection at all! Wonderful dining experience!

Branch at Croydon is no different than the other Pizza Expresses. I like going with friends and sharing some of the delish Classic Italian Antipasto. While food is good, place crowds quickly. Book a table just in case. Also sevice can be a bit slow. Still not bad having in mind the prices.

Croydon Pizza Express is just like every other Pizza Express. It’s always busy, despite being a good 10 minute walk out of the centre and Croydon could definitely do with a second branch. Book a table in advance if you’re going with a group — I’ve queued for a booked table when I’ve turned up a bit early. Staff can get flustered when it’s really busy.

Pizza express is an excellent restaurant which is incredibly spacious and the staff are incredibly polite and the food delicious. I went here for a meal with a mate for lunch and it was incredibly impressive. Recommended for a meal for 2

Was at a loss as to where to have lunch on Saturday and Nando’s was out of the question as I had left my reward card at home(!) so with Woody, my brother and his g/f in tow with found ourselves in Pizza Express. I like it for being far enough out of Croydon town centre so that it is not easily swarmed by shoppers seeking respite, this allows for relatively low-key dining with low noise levels to boot. The place was about half full at 3.15pm and we were seated to the right of the restaurant with full street view owing to the glass fronted front. This would normally be a nice distractionary way of whiling away time but tbh all I felt was a chill that the double glazing could not mask so as the winter months set in, my advise is not to sit anywhere near the windows. Woody opted for the kids menu and the rest of us went with the main menu including entres and desserts. I normally have a salad but this time round my eye was drawn to a seperate menu flyer detailing a collaboration with a chef named Theo Randall but it was the picture of a delicious looking prawn covered pizza that had me salivating. I orderd ‘Theo’s Gamberettini’ which was a tad costlier than the others but it was worth it and I am sure I would have wolfed it down even quicker had I not been hindered by a fresh set of newly fitted braces! My brother created his own pizza and his g/f added toppings to a standard pizza so you can’t say they are not accomodating to taste. The service was slighly laboured in parts and there was one occassion that I had to go and find a server to speed up the task of ordering desserts. I fear this was our fault for choosing to sit in the corner out of direct sight lines of staff. Another cause for complain would be that I ordered a glass of wine that never showed up but was present on the bill. This was duly removed once mentioned but no apology as such was offered. You can’t fault the food however and for 3 adults + a child including drinks and dessert coming in at £60 including service is frankly not that bad a deal.

This is Pizza Express! What more can I say? You either like Pizza Express or you don’t(I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t like it). This is comfort food you can find anywhere. You know you can get a nice pizza/pasta meal and it’s not going to cost too much. If you’re in a big group and can’t decide where to go — nobody says no to Pizza Express. And now you know, there’s one in Croydon — and it takes up 3 shop fronts so they will be able to accommodate you. The staff and service at this place are as quick and friendly as at any of the other restaurants in the chain
