After being regular visitors in the past, we’ve been unable to return since a dreadful incident, when an unfortunate guest suffered a heart attack at the next table in the dining room, from which he sadly died. My partner, a doctor, gave emergency care for almost an hour until the ambulance arrived. We’d scarcely started our meal, and of course could hardly eat the rest. Indeed it somewhat ruined the weekend. But the REALLY shocking thing was that the Manager scornfully refused even to provide so much as a meal voucher in recognition of our actual loss and distress. Still less did the management enquire or offer any support let alone counselling for an event that traumatised my partner for months afterwards, being shocking for happening just when we were for once relaxing on our first weekend off for months. A hotel has a Duty of Care. But the Manager of this place appears to care not one whit for his guests’ welfare. The owners should find someone more responsible to represent their establishment. He’s lost them at least one party of repeat visitors.

Not long back from our second short break there and cannot speak highly enough about the place for a family break. Lot’s of things to do within the grounds that does not completely rely upon good weather. Two slots of childcare gives the adults a break too thru the day which is a big attraction if going with children. Food is nice and overall appearance of the place is very impressive.

Managed to negotiate a pretty reasonable DBB deal here. We took our young baby here and I have to say that it was fantastically family-friendly. The food and accommodation is lovely and there’s loads to do within and outwith the hotel, not to mention some lovely walks.
