The TT Bistro really is Comber’s hidden gem, first discovered by myself three years ago, and revisited just yesterday. What a happy reunion it was too. Located just above the North Down House bar, the TT Bistro lies up a couple of flights of stairs and in a decent sized, well laid out room with a bar in the corner. Expectations really are exceeded when you realise that never in a million years did you expect this gorgeous little bistro to lie at the top of those stairs. Don’t you love it when that happens? Lunch with the boyfriend’s parents brought us to the TT Bistro, as I was absolutely dying to visit it again. Naturally, my boyfriend and I arrived a wee bit late(I’m female, it goes without saying), and found his mum and dad already happily seated, gazing at the menus and the ‘specials board’ in delight. Over bounded Mr Happy Clappy waiter, who thrust a couple of menus our direction, and requested our drinks order in the most cheerful manner I have ever come across that I half expected him to perform a funny little dance for our viewing pleasure. Alas /thankfully that was not to be. Indecisive at the best of times, I soon realised that the lunch menu was pretty extensive. Eeeep. But then, to my delight, I discovered the chicken goujons, crying out to me to choose them. My delight turned to esctasy when I realised that the chicken goujons were a mere £4.95. Yes, you did read that right. Wowzers. You couldn’t beat it with a big fat stick. Well, after all that, I didn’t really need much tempting, and gleefully ordered with Mr Happy Clappy. And they were mighty fine, those goujons. The BBQ sauce was exquisite, and the handcut chips and salad went down an absolute treat. The boyfriend’s rents had salmon, and my boyfriend had chicken pasta, all three commenting on their delicious dishes. Mr Happy Clappy was absolutely elated at the clean plates. I do love service with a smile… such a pleasant fella. Dessert was probably not the best idea, but gluttony got the better of me when I saw the selection of Maud’s ice-cream for an amazingly priced £3.50. The Chocolate, vanilla and ‘pooh bear’ varieties finished off one of the best lunches I have had in a long time. Please, when can I go back?!
