Admission prices are very good, there is a Café which is very pricey so i would recommend taking a picnic. My children loved the day but the only problem that we found is that it’s not very pushchair friendly so except your little ones to have a bumpy ride.

This is quite a nice little zoo, and a pleasant way to spend a day. Not too expensive to get in and a reasonable range of animals. I agree with previous reviewers about the size of some of the enclosures, although to be fair none of the animals appeared distressed. We enjoyed the penguin parade and the sealion show. The staff all appear to care about the animals and to know a lot about them. Café was extremely poor. Expensive for a very indifferent cup of coffee and the tables were none too clean.

One would not expect there to be a zoo in such a location, at least I wouldn’t. As others have commented it is a small, local zoo and holds a surprising amount of animals for such a small site. My sister often comments she can hear the shrieking of monkeys/primates in the mornings from her bedroom window of our parents’ house in the west end of Colwyn Bay. A fun afternoon out for all members of the family, as I recall there is a café overlooking the mountainside and some form of big cat enclosure. I seem to recall it being a Tiger, but that may be inaccurate.

Been to this zoo in the loverley setting overlooking Colwyn Bay quite a few time the most recent being 1st may 2011. The zoo is not big but always very pleasant to walk around however i do find the animal enclosures a bit small for the animals but that is just my opinion, the children just love it as there is an adventure playgoround as well. the café’s are average, pasty and chips quiche and salad etc the price are a bit high. The animals are varied Camels tigers monkeys merecats penquins and huge aligators, brown bears which look very sad, birds of prey sealions and so on. the views are stunning from this location. if you near there i would suggest a visit.

You wouldn’t expect to find crocodiles, ostriches and other exotic creatures in the hills above Colwyn Bay — but there they are, in a surprisingly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. It’s not particularly educational as zoos go, but it’s still fun for all the family. There’s even a tiger somewhere

this is a great zoo, its got everything you need for a great day out with the kids. I especially like the park. when I was a kid i was more interested in the park thatn the animals though now. i find the animals amazing. watch out for kids feeding animals from to the crocodiles, it has happened here. I wouldnt be surprised if a kid fed another kid to something soon. its a nice layout, a fair walk but not too much walking to get around and see everything. good café with excellent views towards the bay.

This is a small zoo but has a large variety of animals. There is always shows on, like sealion feeding and birds of prey shows and plenty to see. I would highly recommend this zoo but would encourage early arrival because parking is limited and would also advise you take a packed lunch as the café is expensive.

This my local zoo and I love going there from time to time, in particular Christmas Eve when they usually have very cheap admission prices and somehow the sun always shines. What really makes WMZ worth a visit is the stunning location, set high up above Colwyn Bay with views across the surrounding area and the sea at Rhos-on-Sea. There’s a good selection of animals, the chimps and the sealions are my faves, and the penguin parade is well worth a watch. If you happen to find yourself in the Colwyn Bay area on Christmas Eve and have got all your shopping done then make your way up the hill, you won’t regret it.

The Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay is as its name suggests set high up. It was a reasonable price for entry, comparable to other zoos i have visited anyway. Although i visited on a terrible day weather wise, our spirits werent dampened and we had a fantastic day. We were there the whole day as there is so much to see. There were so many different animals here it was fantastic, I would recommend the Snow Leopards and the Mississippi Alligators as well worth seeing but there is so much more aswell, we saw a display with a harris hawk then a barn owl then the penguin parade then the macaws. There was also feeding time for the sealions. This zoo does alot of conservation work, rehabilitating animals and releasing them back into the wild. They also provide educational trips for groups. Facilites wise there the Safari Café which had a great menu, the Lamb and Leek pie was gorgeous! there is also a gift shop and I noticed a couple of sets of toilets. There is a playground for kids and ample seating around the zoo to take a rest or have a picnic. A great day out, me and my nephew had a great time.
