A great meal and atmosphere abound here at the Old Plough. It’s a great little pub that’s run by the same folks who run the Three Horseshoes in Laleham and the Onslow Arms in Clandon. So these owners know what the local Surrey crowd want. Good food and good local ales. Sat down quickly for a Sunday Roast but made sure to call ahead as this place is consistently busy. Nice gardens at the entrance and a small parking lot behind ensure that it definitely gets busy and you might have to park and walk. The pub is cosy and in a U shape with one end being a bigger dining room and the other the bar. It is noisy and kids are prevalent during our visit at around 2pm. Two courses for lunch run around £18.50 with pints roughly around £4. The servings are large as they usually are with this small chain of pubs. We ordered the roast chicken and the braised duck and both certainly don’t disappoint. Service is attentive and friendly and nothing to complain about at all. See pics of food. All in all a great place for Sunday roast but since we know they’re a small chain we will go to our local one the next time. Awesome place. Will come back if we are in the immediate vicinity.

best ‘foodie’ pub for miles. Not really a drinking den — the focus is definitely on food. Service friendly and efficient.

Recommended. Just off Stoke Road. Recently renovated by new owners. Freshened up indoor and out. A little brighter. A little dressier. The facility is really nice with indoor and outdoor dining in a nestled in trees and shrubs. The bar is in the front with the dining in the back and outdoors. Good, varied choice of lagers and ales. Good menu selection generally well prepared. I had the duck recommend by another Unilocal fan; although tasty it was a bit dry(hard to do with duck). My wife had a sandwich and was«pleased» with it. Seems a popular place that gets busy about 2:002:30. All ages, including some well behaved children. «Decently priced considering the area it’s in.» Service was good though a bit challenged when it got busy.

I headed out of London recently for dinner and a catch up with a good friend. We settled on the Old Plough which he knows well but I had never been to before. It was Friday night and the place was packed. The atmosphere was buzzing and everyone was having a great time. I liked it straight away. We spoke to the manager of the restaurant and were told we would have to wait two hours for a table. I wasn’t sure I could hold out that long but we decided to go for it. There was a fully stocked bar after all which would keep us occupied until they could seat us. Immediately we fell into conversation with a couple of guys sitting at the bar and spent the next hour or so in pleasant company. You could tell you were no longer in London and it was nice reprieve. All the time we were waiting at the bar the restaurant remained only half full. We couldn’t understand why they didn’t call us in but eventually after about 90 minutes we got a table. It was worth the wait. The menu was really nice and the choice was excellent. I had sea bream which was perfectly cooked. I couldn’t recommend it enough. My friend had the burger which he said was cooked exactly how he likes it and it looked really good. The wine list was great as well and I had a lovely Viognier which went down a treat! On top of that the service was excellent. I am looking forward to getting back here again very soon.
