Good pub food, a bit fancy. Lovely weekend BBQ plus a gastric pub menu. I had a cheeseburger, crispy on the outside just as I like it. It was served with chips and three different salads. A great kids menu too, with smaller portions of adult quality food. There’s a definite relaxed bourgeois quality, if you are into that sort of thing. Dishes range between 9 and 15 pounds for lunch. I did have to sit in a chair that kept sinking back because it was half on brick and half on gravel, but the food and atmosphere made up for it.

Stuck up atmosphere, where you have to even queue to sit outside. The pub quality food is very overpriced at over £16 for main. And £7−8 for a starter or dessert. Try a genuine local pub rather

All they are missing is a children’s play area. Food beautifully done. Beers a good selection. A bit noisy from road but oodles of setting, great loos and charming multi cultural staff.

Once again I’m visiting the Black Swan having lunch with local friends. Had our usual table reserved. Arrived around half 2 which was nice as most of the families with kids were leaving. One thing the annoys me more than bad food is a restaurant full of kids running wild. Looks like we picked the right time. As for the food the menu was varied with some very nice selections or both the vegetarians and non vegetarians in our party. I had the potted trout salad which was something new I had not tried before and it was wonderful. For mains I was glad to see my old favourite was on the menu fish and mussel stew. Yummy. Everything was going well until the desert which let the meal down. My friend ordered the mango crème brûlée and it was runny and not even set yet and the coffee was cold. Pity if it was not for that I would have been 5 stars.

One of the best pubs I’ve found while on vacation in London. There fish and chips were truly amazing, done in a lovely light and crisp beer batter. If I’m ever in London again, they will be seeing me.

One of those things I think that all Brits instinctively desire is a «nice country pub for Sunday Lunch»: this establishment in not-so-rural Surrey manages to tick all the boxes for me: — Plenty of parking — Plenty of tables in the garden(with a BBQ option) — Good food in generous portions — Good service They managed to score a quick bonus point with me virtually as soon as we sat down for lunch: the first thing the waitress did was offer«tap water» rather than trying to perpetrate the oh-so-irritating up-sell attempt for bottled water that has marred recent decades(for most of the UK perfectly drinkable stuff comes out of the tap: it wasn’t that long ago most restaurants automatically put a jug of water on the table …). So I’d definitely commend the Black Swan. UPDATE(Nov-11): After several visits, I’d now have to reduce Service from«Good» to «Generally Good» — there are unfortunately more than one member of staff who need some education about«Customer Focus» …

The Black Swan is one of my favourite pubs of all time! Great atomesphere, excellent service, very well decorated, more like a gastro pub, and the location is pretty, residing in the beautiful village of Ockham! They also have very good seating arrangements, especially outside where they have swinging tables and chairs :) Now, back to the main feature… the food… well, I can say that we have been there a few times and it has never disappointed! In fact, the food is really good and especially their roasts on Sundays :) They also make a very good Fish & Chips and their Seabass is excelent! My only gripe is that the menu could’ve done with a bit more variety but this is really clutching straws! Highly recommended.

Was here this past friday night after and incredible day at Pyrford Golf Club in Surrey with clients. My client had chosen this spot for dinner. After driving on some very picturesque and curvy country roads we came upon the Black Swan which is in an old very well maintained farm house. The drive to the Black Swan and the building itself reminded me of something out of Bucks County, PA. Upon entering the place it is bright and cheery and very tastefully decorated with a central fireplace to all dining rooms. The bar area was full service and packed with locals and had an extensive tap of local brews as well as extensive vodka and wine list. I tried some new local brews which were very hoppish and went well with my main dish. Having just spent the prior 5 days in Paris, and a bad dinner the night before in London, I was not expecting anything great. However the food was surprisingly excellent, very tasty creative upscale pub food. I had the lamb which was served château-briand style with a side of chips.(fries). Others had the steak and salmon dishes. The crab appetizer was very well presented and tasty. Service was very cheery and attentive. Our waitress had just returned from a period in LA. The Black Swan seemed like«the place» to be seen with a crowd of well-off locals and London city dwellers out for a day of golf. What a great find. I hope to return here someday.

This is my favourite pub in the area, we’ve eaten here many times, stopped for a glass of wine in the sunshine and sat by the fire reading the paper enjoying a coffee on cold wintry daysit’s a really nice place to hang out. I believe it was once a biker bar back in the day, and it couldn’t be more different now. It draws in a nice clientele, lots of families and groups of friends who meet for leisurely lunches and meals in the evening. It’s kid friendly and dog friendly also. The black Swan is a deceptively large place with a restaurant section, a bar section and a large out-door area which is a real sun-trap in the summer months. There are huge slate tables, lots of comfy furniture and kids running around enjoying themselves. The food is good. It’s gastro-pub fod at it’s best I’d say. There is a varied menu that offers all sorts of niceties from eggs benedict to fish and chips, they have lovely soup choices and great chips! It’s modernly decorated, comfortable, clean, has lovely clean bathrooms and nice staff.

I was going to give it more stars from previous visits for drinks and lunch all very enjoyable. And it’s a very well decorated bar and restaurant, with superb outside seating, situated in the Surrey country side, mid way between Horsley/Wisley/Cobham.a really rough part of the countryside… it’s Ockham really But on my last visit. early evening, 5.30pm, for a few drinks I put a card behind the bar and took a menu, and a few drinks as everyone arrived. Went to order a few snackskitchen not open until 6.30pm, so a few more drinks, later went to order some Ciabattas to share. …well it was the wrong menu, and the chef hadn’t sent the evening one down. So it was crisps and olives all round! To add insult to injury, soon after a couple of guys had bowls of chips. not suggested to us. And then the bill looked a little high. mysterious £72 for food, which we certainly hadn’t had! I’m going to return to see if it was a one off.
