A great countryside pub, that I probably couldn’t imagine much better. The food isn’t going to blow a gastronome away, but its solid and honest, and its crazy inexpensive. On a recent Saturday evening visit a recurring special for two was 12.95 for steak, chips and mushrooms plus a bottle of wine to share. That’s 12.95 all in, not each! I went with a slice of homemade beef and onion pie, chips and mushy peas. Solid, not showy. We sat near the kitchen and you could see the two chaps in there working away, no microwave pings. The pub itself is full of character and charm, each room a little story unto itself. I was only passing through on a brief trip but would love to while away an evening hear chatting with the lively locals and sampling more than just the Copper Dragon I was piling away on this particular night. The pub is dog friendly, and plenty of pups came through on the evening we were there, water bowls provided throughout — only added to the charm of the place. Cool place. Wish there were more like it.

Cracking steak and chips offer when its on, great quality food too. When busy service can take a while but thats only as its freshly made for you. The log file you have is awesome when the cold winter months are in too!

A nice country pub with a good reputation for food and wine. Car park facing pub. Some nice walks in the area.

Another pub on that side of the M61 which is firmly resting on its past reputation. It is now an overpriced(mis)adventure for those with a large wallet. All I can say is do yourslef a favour and ask those poor souls that are actually eating a meal there, what the service and food is like before ordering! As Clint Eastwood would say Do you feel lucky… Please note the Chinese above has nothing to do with the pub, and is quite reasonable. I am honestly sorry to say that have been a regular there for well over 25 years, this place has lost all of what made it a great pub. For that I am truley quite sad.

Warm, cosy and welcoming are the first thoughts you think as you enter this lovely old pub. A roaring fire in the grate and good food, piled high and at a reasonable price. where else would you want to be on a cold winters day? Snug in the private rooms, with an extensive menu to chose from this family run pub epitomises the famous Lancashire hospitality. A must if you are in the area.

A pub offering plenty of beers, even their own bitter. Good atmosphere, and decent pub food served. Also a Cantonese restaurant upstairs. You can get 4 pint jugs of beer from the pub and take them up to the Chinese.
