Thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambience, décor at Bubba Gumps on Saturday evening. The service was very good and the staff were very friendly and polite. Cocktails were very good too and you get to keep the glasses depending on choice. If it’s a birthday celebration then wait for a little surprise too… which I found out… haha. Brilliant fun!!! The food was amazing I have to say! I can’t wait to go back to London for another visit to Bubba Gumps!

I’ve been to the one in NYC and in Orlando and compared to them this place is terrible. No trivia about the movie, the signs on the table are useless, so the concept is basically a gimmick. The food is also not good. The Shrimp Heaven platter had a few shrimps on top and was basically full of chips. It was cold as well and did not taste good. The staff is rude as well. The bartender refused to give us the Wifi password and actaully lied about it being broken. When we asked a waiter they gave us the password. I have no idea why he would do that. For this price(the place is pretty expensive) you should get much better service and much better food. I wouldn’t recommend this place for anyone.

I throughly read the good and bad reviews on here and Google before taking most of the family to Bubba Gumps shrimp co on Saturday around midday. I’ve been to the time square restaurant in New York and throughly enjoyed myself and so went to the London branch with the issues of portion size, quality and price in the back of my mind. I was hoping for a good experience and I’ve gotta say they came through. I disagree with the poor reviews. You can go to the same place a few times and get a few different experiences, maybe it just wasn’t your day. We had a great time! We arrived with the double pushchair and a teenager and were seated immediately. A high chair appeared and we settled in to look at the menu. We had some drinks and chose our starters and main, we had the starters and the toddlers meal(mama gumps chicken strips £5) come out at the same time. It was no problem the staff said. Then they explained what I’d read about, the ‘shrimpers heaven’ was only shrimp on top and was packed with chips and that we would actually only have 15 pieces on shrimp, not a problem for us and the wife loved it! We started with the ‘crab stuffed mushrooms’ and the ‘seafood hush pups’ and both were bang on, fresh, well cooked and tasty. Seriously you have to try the stuffed mushrooms though, recommend! The teenager had a drink in a flashing glass that also projects the company logo on the wall as you drink it and if your close enough, he’d ordered the all American burger with cheese and frizzled onions, the onions were really nice! I had a few of them too. I’d ordered the bucket of boat trash and asked how big it was and how much snow crab I’d get and they explained so I asked for a side of snow crab too which was no problem either. They even came back to tell me that the side of crab was an extra £12 and did I still want it, I did and was glad I had it! Both the ‘bucket’ and the side of crab were amazing. I had so much the crab was getting cold by the time I’d gotten to the last leg. We had: 2 starters 3 mains 1 side 1 kids meal 3 cokes 2 beers 1 apple juice 1 flashy glass. Which the teenager gets to keep. All for £110 Which I was happy to pay, they had already added the gratuity on so I didn’t have to :) Over all they did meet my expectations and memories of the New York branch. Although we weren’t asked the gump trivia and they didn’t have the bench with the shoes you put your shoes in and get your photo taken like in time square it was still really fun! Thanks bubba gumps shrimp co.

Portion of food was not worth the price. They stuffed the«buckets» with fries then topped them with fish.

If you love Forrest Gump, you’ll love this restaurant. The movie plays on loop, there’s pictures and quotes everywhere, and the food is fantastic! Thoroughly recommended!

Pretty good Southern-US-Food for suitable prices. Just remember that you are sitting in a fast-food-restaurant an not in a full scale restaurant as you might expect. Forrest Gump is all around.

First off I am a huge fan of Forrest Gump(I mean, who isn’t?!!). Secondly, this is a terrible restaurant. Once you get over the fun aspect of this themed restaurant you are met with the terrible realisation that you are paying about ten times more the market value of rubbery fried fish simply for having the privilege of sitting next to a «Run Forrest, Run!» sign. Avoid if you can. The epitome of a tourist trap.

I was not impressed with this place at all, and haven’t returned for that reason. Food is not this restaurant’s high point and neither is the service. I actually left and said I wouldn’t pay for it or eat it because I was that unhappy. Take note: I was also taking my mother out for a nice meal. I decided to visit this place when a friend posted an article on Facebook about it opening. I was particularly excited when I found out the theme was Forrest Gump-‘Bubba Gump’ go figure. Unfortunately, my excitement was hindered when I decided to order the supposedly ’Voted #1 guest favourite’, Forrest’s Seafood Feast. The people who voted for this as number #1 either are easily pleased or they need to get their taste buds tested. According to the name you’d think that it would have a reasonable amount of shrimp in it let alone seafood in general. About 80% of it is the breaded crumb covering and 20% is the actual seafood, and i’m being generous with these percentages. The worst part about it was that the picture in the menu is extremely misleading. My mother and I were very disappointed to find that what we thought were cones full of seafood were actually cones filled with shredded cabbage till about ¾ of the cone. The ‘shrimp’ was only covering the top to hide the shredded cabbage and give an illusion of a full cone of food. For what you’re paying and the amount of ‘shrimp’ you actually get i’d say it’s the classic case of the emperors clothing, made to look good but very little of it there. Misleading marketing on Bubba Gump Shrimps part. This should be corrected. If I wanted this sort of food all i’d have to do is go to my local Tesco, shred some Everyday Basic cabbage and sprinkle a few KFC popcorn chicken on top. When questioned about this the staff and manager used the excuse that if it was full with the ‘shrimp’, the food would fall out the bottom without support from the cabbage. What support small, light shreds cabbage can provide, I have no idea. Correct me if i’m wrong but in the photos on the menu of these cones there is no hole in the bottom and the ‘shrimp’ is too big to fall through. Without much help from the MANAGER I was told I could either not pay and leave or they get me something else. I was not happy with the pricing for what I got, the cheeky marketing on their menu and the taste of the food so I left never to return again. If you want quality seafood go somewhere like Burger & Lobster or better yet cook it at home!

Came off the hop on/hop off bus and was so cold, went in to Bubba Gump to get some heat. Had we not been so cold, would not have went in. Waited 15mins for a table when eventually we were allowed upstairs to the dining area where we were met with empty tables. Why the wait downstairs?! Waiter was friendly, a little bit too friendly where it was just a tad bit awkward. Throughout the meal, we had another 3 or 4 different people come and ask how everything was. Quite uncomfortable, it was almost as if we should have asked them to sit and hang out… Meh, not rushing to return.

In need of food in London you really are spoilt for choice, I’m not sure why we decided bubba gump would be a Good choice but it’s where we ended up and first impressions I wasn’t overly impressed but service was swift and efficient, the food was tasty, garlicky prawns, the décor is all themed around the movie«Forrest gump» a movie I’ve only seen once, our waitress sprung a pop quiz on us, probably great fun if you are in a group, or if you actually remember watching the movie. But she was a sweet girl, not at all intrusive, I’m not over impressed with food served on a plastic tray, lined with«newspaper«with all the 1960’s headlines but I think it is a lovely atmosphere for families, no worries about the little ones making a mess as its a very relaxed informal dining experience, great for crowds, a birthday group or the like. Our food was delicious, cocktail were fun and I was offered the chance to buy a cocktail jar. I’d have loved to take the kids, it’s a great family’s all venue.

I’D say more of the stars go to the service and the pretty settings in the restaurant rather than the food. The food itself I’d probably give three stars. This restuarant took over what used to be an arcade. The reburbishment work done for this new restaurant did a really good job! There’s a shop down the stairs selling souvenirs of Bubba gumb and the restaurant is upstairs. Although I think it can get a little confusing for first time customers. Bubba gumb has an awesome. drink list, with a wide selection of creative cocktails and non alcoholic punch. Drink prices are fairly expensive although the taste nd size are decent. also, for several drinks u get to keep the sparkling cup home ! :) Onto the food, shrimps were fresh and these are cooked in various ways, but mostly fried. We opted for the most popular share platter where u get four types of shrimps including tempura, breadcrumbs and coconut. It tasted OK but for 19.50 I thought was a little too much. And to no surprise, my throat was in so much pain afterwards. They also serve other rice and pasta dishes as well as steak.

Great décor and memorabilia. The staff are lovely and helpful. Food is not the priority here. I ordered Shrimpers Heaven which had all different types of shrimp, portions were small as each cone was filled with cabbage and the prawns all sat on top. Fries were cold. Garlic bread was half a baguette with melted garlic butter. The only shrimp that was any good was the coconut shrimp. Simply a novelty tourist trap.

This movie transfer restaurant is fun and all about the movie experience. Don’t expect the food to be great… But do order: coconut shrimps and hush pups. They are great!

Having first had the pleasure of trying Bubba Gump’s shrimp whilst on a trip in Tokyo(during which I promptly went back for a 2nd visit), I was positively enthused to see Bubba Gump open up in Central London. However, the atmosphere and quality of food was sadly not on par with its twin in Tokyo. Odd how this happens. The menu is the same but the shrimp and presentation not quite to the same standard as what the Japanese are able to produce. Nevertheless, I would recommend that anyone who is a fan of Forrest Gump the movie to pay this restaurant a visit. The setting and energy is vibrantly American and the variety of cocktails(both non-alcoholic and alcoholic) is impressive. A word of warning: they quiz you on the movie as you wait for your food!

At Bubba Gump, when you ask for a table they will asked for your favourite film instead of your name. Different, but not very practical, as the receptionist had to go through the list to ensure no one have already used the same film name. After standing round browsing the menu for about 10 minutes our favourite film was called and we were directed to go upstairs to the dining area where«Mama»(a Bubba Gump staff) would take us to our table. But when you go upstairs, we had to queue again and there was another reception. It was like queuing at a theme park! Once we finally got a table, the staff explain to us how the sign on the table works — blue(«Run Forrest Run») means we are fine and red(«Stop Forrest Stop») if we need service. Then the staff went through Bubba Gump speciality drinks, where some of the drinks you can take the cup home. We ordered a Strawberry Mango Chiller, Blue Lemon-Up and Mango Lemon Up(all £7.40 each). These came in a lite-up cup that you can take home. They were printed Bubba Gump plastic glass cup with a flashing base. When you lift the cup up there is a mini projector that projected the Bubba Gump logo. The drinks are overpriced and were just flavoured slash ice(basically what I know as Slush Puppies). «I’m Stuffed» shrimp is made up of seven shrimps. Each one individually wrapped in minced crab meat and baked in cheese and served with Jasmine rice which was a medium size ball(less than a rice bowl size!). The piece of garlic bread baguette, looks like were pre-packed frozen bread. The portion of the dish was smaller than the photo in the menu and didn’t felt worth £17.50. Lobster linguine had broccoli and pieces of lobster meat. The lobster I would best described as rubber so are they not from fresh lobster?! The ribs for the surf & turf look like it was a starving piece of meat and concluded it was ribs from a package. The only thing we thought was good on this dish was the grilled shrimp skewers. We spent around £30 per person(including 10% service charge) for three non-alcoholic drinks and three main dishes. The service was relatively okay, although I was taken around walking whole restaurant to find a credit machine that will work. There was many credit card machine but they could only find two working machine to be able to pay the bill. My experience at Bubba Gump was like being at one of those holiday resort. It will attract tourist as the restaurant is located in the heart of London tourist area.
