Popped in on Sunday for lunch and very nice the food was too, the only comment to make is that the staff lacked smiles and a welcome, while I was there two or three small groups came in and were not acknowledged with a good afternoon or hello, and they did walk back out again after not really getting invited in or being invited to sit. A warm greeting is the best thing on earth on a wet and gloomy Sunday, if the guys can master this the place would be a gem. Eye contact with your customers is essential too, just to know they have been acknowledged makes a customer feel wanted. Even though we waited to be served and went up to the counter in the end to be served what they produced was good food at good prices. Thank you guys but come on where’s the welcome!!!

I’ve only been here once for breakfast, and it was very nice! Everything was cooked well, the staff were friendly and I’ll go here again when I’m in the area.

This tea room offers everything such an establishment should: sandwiches, hot meals, cream teas and cakes. It also has an amazing setting: a mediaeval crypt. There is a good choice of teas, which are served in pots. Cakes are appealing and mostly made on-site. Service is pleasant, but not always entirely efficient when it’s busy: my table remained unwiped even when staff saw me brushing off the crumbs myself. All in all, a nice place for a drink and snack.
