A decent place to eat. Went here recently with my collegues and found the food to be good, didn’t have to hang around too long, friendly staff, good service.

I went here with a group from the Riverside innovation centre and there was quite a large group of us. I have to say they were very attentive, friendly and the food & wine was brilliant. The layout of the place is very good too and the toilets were clean!

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? The bad news is that this particular Zizzi is possibly the least stylish one in the chain. Based on the ground floor of a grey, sixties office block, it looks unappealing from the outside. The service also seem to slide between fast and efficient and super sloooooow. The good news is, the food is mouthwatering. The spinach salad with avacado, crispy pancetta and honey mustard dressing is the perfect spring salad and the Antipasto Siciliano with over-roasted peppers, aubergines, artichokes, olives, plum tomatoes and fior di latte mozzarella is a kick-ass appetiser. The Fiorentina, Pollo Al Rosmarino and Quattro Stagioni are all delightful pizzas but the Mezzo E Mezzo is D*E*L*I*C*I*O*U*S. One half is made with Grana Padano cheese, creamy potatoes, mozzarella, red onion and thyme and the other is comprised of roasted peppers, chilli, mushrooms and a handful of rocket. Sounds weird on paper I know but tastes damn good on the tongue! The vanilla panacotta and lemon tart with mascarpone are also pretty divine deserts for a chain restaurant. My tip: Score one of the window seats, order a bottle of Prosecco or Shiraz and R*E*L*A*X.

I like the food at Zizzi’s it’s very nice and always warm. The prices can be abit expensive but I tend to go when i have a voucher so I get a discounted bill! The atmosphere in here is good and the staff are friendly too, Well worth a visit

Lunch with work colleagues. Had to wait ages for everything, waiter appeared to speak very little English and couldn’t even seem to describe items on the menu. Olives we ordered didn’t turn up. Brought wrong Risotto to me — had to wait for new one. I wouldn’t advise you order from the ‘healthy menu’, it doesn’t tell you on the this menu the portions look half the size of normal portions, with half the ingredients and double the waiting time I had to endure, I’d expect it to be half price too. Eventually we argued a bill reduction. It wasn’t offered. If I can get excellent service from my local Indian restaurant with an average price of £5 per dish, why can’t these chains get it right?

I personally like ZiZi’s. It’s out of the way of the main street and is located near the roman amphitheatre. The restaurant offers an Italian inspired menu which includes pizza’s and pasta’s and the like. It’s not too expensive and the food is of good quality. Worth mentioning is the way in which the restaurant is presented. The brick oven used for pizza’s can be seen from where you eat along with all the chefs so if you are anxious about your food preparation, this is a good place for you! The decoration is lovely and the toilets are very nice, found downstairs. For parking, there is a multi-storey right next door, which you will have to pay for but it is convenient. Much recommended place. Well worth a visit.

Zizzi is the kind of place I really want to like — it’s got nice simple décor and a straight forward Italian menu. The problem is that both the food and the service tend to be a little too simple for my liking. Sadly this means that many of the dishes I’ve tried here have lacked any real flavour. The service also tends to be quite slow, despite the fact that I have never seen the place more than half full. One plus note of this is the wine list — it’s fairly standard, but they have clearly taken the time to select some wines which are both reasonably inexpensive, but deliver on flavour and clarity. That said, I can’t recommend this place overall as really the key driver of a good restaurant is the food — and for me, Zizzi’s simply does not deliver when compared against many of Chester’s other establishments in a similar price bracket.
