This review is for the location in Ellesmere Port which isn’t available on Unilocal: Wow I am literally blown away by this place, it’s absolutely gorgeous and they have amazing food! I’m an extremely healthy eater who’s visiting from San Diego, California and coming to the UK all you think you’re going to have for 2 weeks is fish and chips and sausage and mash. I brought a big bag full of snacks with me and usually go to ASDA or Morrisons when I get here to get some things in for the house. So I landed Friday and tell my Dad who knows I buy everything from Trader Joes and Whole Foods that I need to go to ASDA and he says«oh wait until you go to Marks and Spencer’s,» and I was thinking a clothing store? I walked up the first aisle and was so happy, they have so much fresh food, things for 1, pre packaged meals that would be great to take to work for lunch, they do a meal deal for 2 that comes with wine. They have delicious vegetables, local grown fruit and tons of novelties like crackers, chocolates and gifts. I needed thing for a fews day, the super green soup I got was delicious and was good for 2 lunches, it was loaded with kale, beans, and edamame… it was to die for and I was so happy to be eating in my normal routine while traveling. I also enjoyed their variety of hummus, the trio one was good but the Moroccan with pine nuts and butternut squash was my favorite. Throughout the aisles they have food from all around the world, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Mexican… you could easily have a fresh meal from every country each night of the week. Now I personally spend quite a bit on groceries, I’m also a single person who lives alone. If you have a family of 4 it’s probably not the most cost effective but it would be great to grab fresh things if you didn’t have time to make dinner that night and didn’t want to do pizza or a mcdonalds! I’m leaving Chester and off to London for the remainder of my stay, I hope I get to go to another location before I go home.

Having been a big Marks and Spencers fan for years, I have to say I think their standard of customer service has gone down. Recently I had reason to take an item back for a refund, whilst in the chester store I was sent upstairs to customer services, they could not help me, I was told to go downstairs to the information desk, this assistant was quite sarcastic to me and I was promptly told to go back upstairs to the finance desk. When I got there I was so stressed by it all, my children were getting very upset and I was getting nowhere I decided to give up and go home!!! Not an experience I wish to repeat!!!

Large store with ladies fashion and per una on ground level and at the back of the shop the Food Hall were there is a good selection of the best of M&s food and an instore bakery which always smells delicous and rather tempting. On the upper floor is more ladies fashion, lingerie, beauty section and all childrens clothing and one of the famous M&s cafes were you can purchase hot or cold Food. Try the Latte and Coffee cake they are delicous!!! there is an exchange bureau on this floor also were you an get your money exchange before going on holiday, always a good lot of friendly staff here and you can buy and collect by car later at this store.

Mark’s and Spencers has always had a commanding presence on the Chester High Street. On one side of the street you have womans clothing and food and, in a different building but exactly opposite on the other side of the road, you have mens, home-ware and the café. The total shop floor area must be colossal. You’ll find everything you need between the two stores. As a student the general rule of thumb i would give is to avoid the high priced food, but get in on the good quality clothes! You can actually get some really snazzy jeans and shorts and the café is a really nice place to relax and unwind. I have always been particularly impressed with the home-ware department and have yet to fail to find a gift for the mother and grandmother from this particular department. It’s definitely worth building Mark’s into a day’s shopping trip. Although as with every shop in the heart of Chester, i would advise that access is much easier with public transportation.

Another shop with a prime location on either side of the high street. The mens section in M&S is always well spread out and not all bunched together. The food from here is delic and if your quick you can get 2 eat for £10 including a bottle of wine!

A must visit for Chester. This offers lots of products, clothes, underwear, cosmetics, toiletries and food. I am sure I haven’t mentioned their fantastic range of toys. I love their jigsaws. This branch has two shops across the road from each other.

I don’t care what anyone says about Marks & Spencers, I still think they do the best quality underwear for everyone. They went through a worrying time a few years ago when it looked like they were going to be forced out of the retail sector in the main high streets. But then they took on new management and guidance and now the chain seems to have really turned itself around. Their clothing ranges seem to have now become very much more fashionable and they seem to be heavily investing in advertising on the TV with Twiggy and Myleene to advertise their items.

There are in fact two M&S buildings on the main highstreet in Chester. One is sells womens-wear, children’s wear, food etc and the one across the road sells men’s wear. I only need to visit the main one so I will review that. It’s a really big shop with a couple of floors, the food court and women’s section being on the ground floor at the back and children’s wear, gift shop, lingerie etc on the first floor. The staff are always helpful and curteous and their food needs not further reviews since it’s renowned for its quality already. The children’s section is quite big and they now sell branded High School Musical clothes and the like too which appeals to the pre-teen and early teenage market and their school uniforms are excellent quality and they usually have decent 3-for-2 type offers on for those during the summer holidays etc. The chocolates are just gorgeous, their own brand remind me of Thorntons chocolate but cheaper, so if you’re on a budget for a Christmas gift try those. They also have a Christmas gift shop which is really sweet, on the first floor, and offer products from anyone between 0 – 99 so you’re bound to find something suitable for your loved one there. It’s along the main high street so it’s easy to find, but Chester in general is VERY busy everywhere at weekends so if you don’t like the crowds then I would avoid weekends in general.
