The grounds were beautiful so I was very excited to stay here. But as soon as I checked in and saw my room I was disappointed. They had put me in a room with just a shower. The registration desk was quite nice to change it though, but I would have thought they would ask when they registered me if i wanted a room without a tub. Then I noticed that there was no minibar, just a fridge. So, i ordered water and soda for my 5 day stay … tipped well too. Then I was told, that there no bottle opener in the room so I would need to call the concierge if I wanted them opend! Today I took the two of the bottles to the grille’s bar and asked them to open them for me and asked for a snack I could take to my room. However, when they found I had only brought my room key, they refused to serve me. Really, you won’t trust a guest with a bag of chips??? Seems like a motel rather than a hotel. Certainly not practicing hospitality here.

Bottom line, great stay! Highly recommend. The grounds and facilities are kept very well. When I walked up I was impressed how much the property had going for it! There is a nice bar visible from the front walk way, and the entrance splits off to the spa. The décor speaks modern minimalist with a luxury touch. There is a braserrie that is considered four star and upon check in we were advised to make a reservation because it books up, but we did have dinner at the hotel. Breakfast was splendid though, buffet with hot food, cereals, and fruits is served in a glass room with excellent light and a view of a well manicured lawn/garden. Besides my room being pink… it was nice, we were upgraded to a suite because of my friend’s rewards status which always brightens your day! They gave us warm cookies before we went upstairs to the«Baldwin Suite». What I liked most about the room is the 42 inch television was placed in the middle of the room separating the bed from the couch. It swiveled back and forth for wherever you chose to watch it from! Nice touch, I’ve never seen that before! The walk in waterfall shower and Crabtree and Evelyn products was a nice touch as well. I had a nice work out before hitting the spa, and was not disappointed. Very well equipped gym that didn’t feel cramped or crowded at all! The pool has a selection of steam rooms and saunas which are nice, but I didn’t think they were warm enough. There was a two lane lap swimming pool which I would guess was about 15m long. What I really enjoyed was the hot tub was indoor and outdoor! There was a little door way that separated an open ceiling square high ceiling room with a small waterfall, definitely check it out! Wifi was simple to connect to(no log in screens) which I always appreciate and was free, though I’m not sure if that is because of our reward status etc… The place is trying hard to make this place into a feature destination and it is working. Well done! Staying in nice hotels is becoming a new found hobby for me, life is good!

This is now a full service Hilton Spa label ed as a Doubletree. Very helpful staff that took care of everything I needed while in the UK. Three different restaurants with a bar and 4 star dining options. Full room service till 9pm and later with a limited menu changes nightly. Parking is included in the room costs and is easily accessible at the main entrance to the spa and hotel. Banquet facilities for large parties and weddings. There is a plush garden for outdoor dining and relaxation. Rooms were decorated in a contemporary style with a large king size beds. Executive rooms are shower only, whilst deluxe have both a shower and bath. Junior Suites have a spacious lounge area with revolving plasma TV and all rooms are air-conditioned and have an LCDTV, fridge, electronic safe, bathrobe, slippers and Neutrogena bath products. There were some many more little items that I cant remember at this time. Check out the website for a better Idea of the overall offerings. I highly recommend this Spa /Hotel if you are travelling and will be staying in the Chester area. Such a nice treat over the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn in the UK. This is more on par with a spa in the US. There needs to be more Hilton properties like this in the Manchester area.

Ate dinner in the Brassiere after drinks at the bar. Very smart & modern appearance, can easily park on the premises. House Sauvignon Blanc at the bar could easily have been better, so why not? Staff were polite and helpful, but hinted at inexperience, not a demerit. In the Brassiere wine by the glass was altogether better. The food was nicely cooked, presented and tasty. However be warned that no veggies are included, not even chips with your steak, so think about what you are ordering. The staff are nervous about this. A bread roll is extra too.

This hotel is part of the Hilton doubletree group however it gets away with not feeling like a chain hotel. I stayed quite recently and they had just opened a new lounge and bar which was done very well, the lighting and the décor was lovely. There is a choice of restuarnt and both in very nice settings. The rooms are decorated in a very modern style however they are already showing signs of wear and tear but for £75 a night they are very good value. I was a little disappointed there wasnt water in the rooms however to make uo for this you are given a warm chocolate cookie upon check in which is a nice touch. The hotel is a little outside of chester but just a ten minute drive and if you are feeling active you could walk the distance.

Hoole Hall AKA Double Tree part of Hilton in Chester was lovely. Stayed for 3 days there for partners birthday. We paid 70 pounds a night which is based on room per night not people. They are currently building a health spa which is to be finished in August 2009. Lots of building work going off inside and out the hotel/hall. Easy to find, 5 minutes drive from the centre of Chester. 10 minute walk to the nearest shops/café/pub and bus stop. Reception was huge and very posh looking. Staff on reception were ok, a little sharp but friendly when you asked them about attractions in Chester. We were asked if we wanted any newspapers, breakfast etc so thats always a good point. Room was excellent, spacious, bed was the biggest i have seen! Plasma TV with freeview channels in the room. Hairdryer — iron — ironing board — tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Bathroom was clean with bath(we stayed in deluxe room) with speaker connected to the TV so you could list to the music channel whilst in the bath! Mini bar — phone — plenty of wardrobe space with hangers provided. Free internet for laptops in the room or on the ground floor there was a private room with 2 brand new computers for full usage of the internet for any visitor in the hotel and it was always empty so no hassle getting in there and using the computer. Breakfast we didnt have included as it was too pricey(15 pounds each!) The hall also serves as a bar/restaurant and holds alot of functions in the function room next door to the bar. We witnessed 2 functions on the nights we stayed and to be honest it wasnt noisy or in the way of us coming in and out of the hotel so no problems there! Hoole Hall is ideal for anyone wanting to visit Chester on leisure or business. Its close by and Chester Zoo and the Blue Planet Aquarium are just round the corner a few miles away! My only worries is the building work. When we first arrived it just looked like a building site and not a hotel site. Car parking was few and far between as all the work men had piled in there and at night it was packed with function guests cars. There was some dust sheets and men up ladders making banging sounds in parts of the day in the hotel but it died down around 4pm. The hall also boosts little lake/pond with a holiday hut next to it perfect in the summer time to sit at. Id give the place a 8⁄10 for overall value for money, a welcoming atmosphere and location to Chester. Like i say the only thing letting it down is the building work going on!

What was a tired looking hotel that needed fresh life breathing into it is now one of the most stylish hotels in Chester. It looks amazing since the refit all light and elegant no more dreary brownness that it used to be full of. The rooms are stunning too with a choice of standard rooms, executive rooms(including wet rooms), deluxe rooms, junior suites, and presidential suites. Would love to try a suite though for a special occasion if the deluxe is anything to go by. The food doesn’t let the side down either and is both filling and satisfying a delightful experience all round if a little bit on the pricey side, worth it though.
