We’ve been coming to Gusto in Cheadle quite a bit recently, it’s basically a very easy option when we have family visiting from out of town due to the fact that we can get early reservations with our kid for 6pm — and the semi-Italian theme doesn’t scare the older members of the family by being too authentic… i. e there isn’t too much garlic, spices, pepper etc etc in everything…(yep this is a thing…) But overall this place is pretty good, very friendly and attentive staff, nice touches like having the parmesan grated directly at you table etc and the setting is relaxed and modern. I had the crab spaghetti a couple of visits ago which was great but on Friday had the prawns and garlic pasta which tbh was lacking in taste quite a bit — I ramped it up with a shed load of salt and that did the trick but really they need their chef to be tasting everything in advance. A good selection of meat and fish dishes — pasta and pizza too of course — it ticks the boxes we need but wouldn’t be somewhere I’d ever think about going on a date night with my wife…

It’s a lovely place to go to. The atmosphere is great, the food is great and the staff is great. If there’s a large group of people going, it’s always best to book a table as it’d hard to get in unless you’ve booked.

We went on a balmy Friday night and sat outside on the lovely terrace where you can watch the world go by. There seemed to be a lot of staff, some not doing very much, and while we were told there would be a delay on the food(they were very busy due to the weather) there was also a delay in taking our order despite being walked past numerous times. However when we did order the food and drinks came much faster than expected and the staff were polite and courteous. The food itself came on a huge white plate with what looked to be a small amount of food in the middle, how wrong we were! We were both stuffed by the time we reached the bottom of the plate/bowl and it was extremely nice too. I’ll definitely be returning and would be happy to take friends and family there.

If you haven’t been to Gusto in Cheadle Hulme, then you haven’t yet tried the best Cheadle Hulme has to offer! Excellent atmosphere, excellent food, excellent team! I organised a meal for my Mother’s 60th Birthday back in August for family and friends, and after reading some of the baseless comments on here, I thought I would try it out first before booking it. The food was simply excellent; simple, locally sourced, excellently cooked cuisine. The staff were polite, attentive(but not overbearing), knowledgeable and above all had a wealth of knowledge of the dishes they were serving. Every time I have a celebration, it’s now at Gusto, I absolutely can’t fault the place, and there really isn’t a restaurant within 10 miles that can touch it! Just try it, you’ll love it!

This restaurant is now re branded as Gusto. Decided to give it a go as we loved it as old Olive Press and we were very impressed. The atmosphere was great, busy and pleasant, service spot on and food just amazing. will definitely be back and can highly recommend.

What a dreadful place! The food is ok but nothing more and it’s dreadfully overpriced for what it is. Olive Press seems suited to the mummies who lunch… with their noisy offspring who run riot. The place is clean and the staff are friendly but really I would avoid it during daylight hours.
