A friend and I headed over to the Bridgewood Manor hotel in Kent for a nice chilled out spa day on Sunday. We were both really disappointed with our day, so we were only there for about an hour before making the 45 minute journey home! Admittedly we did get a voucher from Living Social so we shouldn’t have expected much! All we got was a swimming pool that was pretty cold, a steam room and a sauna. I wouldn’t class this as a spa! We tried to book treatments a week before to be told it was fully booked, and when we got there all treatment rooms were empty, and the staff were just wandering. The best bit of the day was the plate of pastries we got with our voucher, although we didn’t get them with our drinks, and had to chase for them! The bar where we had our lunch was filled with wedding guests, and children darting around and rolling around the floor. Not somewhere I’d be returning!

This is my 100th review and I wanted it to be of somewhere special! The time I spent here last month felt precious to me as it was the only time in recent memory I recall feeling really very happy and fully indulgent! The hotel is sweet, a little faded around the edges but the staff are great and there are some standout features :) In the pool area they have 2 fabulous heated loungers, which I’ve never seen before. I genuinely spent hours reading on these. So fab. I also had a ‘hot. hot, hot’ massage and they had an amazing heated table which I’ve only ever seen at the W hotel in London. As you can tell, warmth is important to me! My room was very big and I got a complimentary upgrade which involved a free minibar(yay!) Mostly the food was fine — the pasta dishes and desserts were particularly good. Slightly overpriced though… I worked off some of the calories in the gym and found the inspirational quotes and posters on the wall kept me going :) I had a relaxing visit here, and despite the poor weather, left feeling rested! Would return x

What a disappointment. Not enough space here to go through all their blunders, but will summarise for you: — Rooms not prepared properly, tv had bad reception, No hotwater in the evening to wash, when i ordered a hot driink it arrived cold, waited half an hour for our first course in the evening and then over an hour for our main– Not funny when you have children, when the food arrived it was not worth the money! Satff didnt know what they were talking about. No towels for us when we went swimming so had to wait. The old saying’ If you pay peanuts you get monkeys’. Unfortunately companies like this think by cutting staff numbers and giving managers highly stressed jobs for small salaries will inspire them to work. Dream on.

A reasonable hotel. More suited for business purposes than a romantic weekend away. Easy access to the M2 and M20 and about 1hr from central London by car. The hotel is well layed out and looks good after a recent refurb. The bar area is nice and has an olde pub feel to it. There is an excellent gym and spa facility. Last time I was there I saw Robert Downey Jr, Guy Ritchie and Jude Law. So it can’t be too bad. Avoid weekends near Christmas unless you want to be kept awake by the loud Xmas parties in the 3 function halls.
