Amongst the bars and restaurants that dominate the Mermaid Quay area of Cardiff Bay, there are a few small shops dotted about giving visitors a chance to do a spot of shopping. Zebra2 is one of them: a tiny boutique shop sandwiched between the Glee comedy club and Salt bar. Packing in quite a selection of jewellery, handbags, clothing, sunglasses and other accessories for women, prices range from cheap to pretty pricey, with a designer labels hanging off some items. Labels include Desigual, Darling, Yumi, Fiorelli, Bulaggi, Littlearth, Smith & Canova, Suzy Smith, Blowfish and Momiji. It’s all quite glam, and I found a lot of the items a bit flouncy, but it’s worth a look if you’re passing as there aren’t that many shops to browse in the Bay!

The clothing and accessories you’ll find in Zebra2 aren’t really my style, but I can definitely see its appeal to teenagers in the post-Hannah Montana, pre-Twilight phase. Actually, it’s probably more geared toward a lady of any age who has a taste for the more ostentatious things in life. With a collection of clothing and accessories, Zebra2 can stake its claim as the one shop in Mermaid Quay where you can actually buy an outfit(weirdly, the Bay is more of a collection of restaurants and bars than anything else). The two girls behind the counter didn’t even glance in my direction, much less greet me when I walked in; no matter, I wasn’t really staying long. One look at the diamanté-encrusted rings and I was heading for the door. Aside from that, Zebra2 is definitely worth a browse if you’re out in Mermaid Quay, especially if you’re with a gaggle of girls, but I personally can say I won’t be in a rush to go back.

Zebra2 is a weird name and the store is fairly odd too. Its like a tiny treasure trove/boutique slightly out of place between Salt bar and the Glee club. Its quite a busy looking shop, they have a lot to squeeze into the small place. They sell handbags, jewelry, accessories and gifts. Some of their bags are designer but I can’t tell the difference between Primark and Prada. Its worth having a look at their funky jewelry, all of which is reasonable priced and feel unique. A great stop to catch tourists wanted to buy up a gift, and a good browsing spot if your in the area.
