So, now not only famous in Cardiff for late night food coupled with that hallowed of late night amenities ‘somewhere to sit and a loo!’, but it is famous accross Britain as a location for ‘Gavin & Stacey”(Think Smithy being obnoxious in a café after Gavin’s stag do!) What can I say about T&A? Firstly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it shut. That may say more about me than about T&A, but it is definitely convenient after a night on the town or in the students union. The food? Fine. Nothing spectacular, but catering mainly for drunk people it doesn’t need to be. Chips and Garlic sauce is always good, and in all honesty I tend to go for a Samoza or a Bhaji(and chips obviously). I’ve not had a kebab in there, but it is all on the menu as well as a vast array of pizzas. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and no matter how many of you there are or how much you are swaying/singing/talking absolute nonsense/crying/telling one another ‘love you!’ they never seem to be perterbed. I just really like the décor. It has something of the 80s non-chain burger bar or leisure centre about it, but it is always clean and tidy. If you’re ever in Cathays, T& A is the place to be!

Hungry post-pub types can’t know which way to look in this microcosm of Cathays, but the real takeaway choice is between Chicago Bulls and here. The very drunk may confuse it with T&A Stores across the street but they’ll be missing out on an all-encompassing selection of pizzas, burgers, kebabs and fried chicken. Like all the best nights out(and, well, takeaways), the experience is probably enhanced a little if you have had a few beers beforehand. As greasy nosh goes, though, T&A’s does enough to make the stumble home worth diverting toward Cathays.

Not to be confused with T&A Stores, just over the road, this is a kebab shop. I stumbled, quite literally, upon this shop after a society social. Because the club we had been to shut at 2, everyone was still quite up for partying. However, in an attempt to sober up the most drunk people, we all stopped off together for food. Looking back on the experience the next day I realised how impressive it was that they managed to swiftly and efficiently serve about fifty people who came sprawling in all at once. The food wasn’t of a great standard but, then, I wasn’t expecting it to be. It is one of few in Cardiff to offer a decent seating area into which all the girls sank gratefully, feet throbbing after a night of constant dancing. It is also the cleanest of all the kebab shops in this area — always a bonus!

Cheap and cheerful student takeaway — open late — often busy at the weekends. Décor is tacky and furniture is down at heel — nevertheless, food is reliably hot and quick and tasty!
