I went to this bar out if curiosity after hearing about its mini cinema on a film forum. TBH I hate going out in Cardiff, but I seriously loved this bar. A warm welcome guaranteed (for starters the door men were really lovely which makes a pleasant change from the norm). Great selection of beers from around the world, the manager really knew his stuff and was happy to chat and answer any questions about the beers they sold, top bloke! I was expecting the cinema room to be just a large screen and some seats, but the décor was awesome, it’s what I’d imagine a cinema from the 1920s to look like. The bar itself is spacious, clean, very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, plus the owner could be seen smiling and chatting to his customers, hats off to him for creating this unique bar that Cardiff was screaming out for, thank you! If you want a night free of pretentious dickheads, then you’ll love this place.

Porter’s is a great new bar with a real alternative feel to it in the centre of Cardiff. Went there on a whim with some friends before Xmas and found it unique and friendly from the moment we arrived. Lovely staff, great beers and even a mini cinema (yes, you heard me) where you can relax and watch some nonsense (I was a bit drunk) in traditional old cinema seats while supping your beers. A must see for anyone looking for something a little bit different.

Porter’s Cardiff is a brand spanking new bar next to The Big Sleep Hotel and opposite the CIA (Motorpoint) so really central! All the staff are really friendly and they have a great range of drinks. You can buy cheap pints or more specialised flavoured beers. It’s a really big space which you can sit around and chat with your friends or get up on stage where they have a piano and have a good ol’ sing song! This did actually happen on Saturday night. Who doesn’t love an impromptu sing song?! They also show the rugby on the big screen in the main room. Oh, how could I forget? They also have another room with a cinema in it! Beautiful red velvet seats and great films.
I’ve had a great time here and in one night have managed to have a good sing song, a dance, some wonderful chats and watch some cartoons. They also sell pizza and flavoured popcorn. GET THERE NOW!
