I thought the whole point of a restaurant chain is that they have a good standard of food no matter which branch you go to. Not os with Pizza Express.
This branch now seems a dark, dingy and tired compared to the other 2 branches they have in the bay and in St David’s 2. I don’t know if it is just the décor but oddly the food doesn’t seem as tasty either.
If you are thinking of popping into this one — do yourself a favour and do the 5 minute walk to St David’s 2. That branch is a lot nicer.

I’m pretty new to Pizza Express, so was pleasantly surprised when I was taken along to this restaurant the other day. While remaining cheap enough for a poor Unilocaler like myself, it delivered some really delicious food. With all of our vouchers, we managed to get 10 people happily full for only £75 (including12% tip!)

I am a big Pizza Express fan — I find that there is always something about each one to make you feel like it is an individual restaurant. There is one at home in Sussex which seems to be a converted cottage — it’s so cute. This one is more upmarket — the whole restaurant feels somewhat more sophisticated.
I love that you can see the kitchen too — it makes you feel as though you are safe to complain because they can’t spit in your pizzas. But I have never had any cause for complaint. It’s a lovely restaurant.
The only slight mar is that the service can vary. It’s always good but sometimes it’s excellent. For this inconsistency, I mark it down.

I really like this restaurant and find the pizzas delicious. Located right in the middle of town in High Street it is idealy situated for a meal after shopping or meal before hitting the various bars and clubs in Cardiff. If going on a weekend I would advise to book or you may be waiting a while for a table. Nice layout, tables not too close to each other, friendly staff and a pleasant atmoshere. Good selection of pizzas, with some pasta and salads. I’ve had some lovely meals here but they do seem to be a bit flustered when busy. For example we went the night the Christmas lights were turned on in Cardiff so it was busy and they ran out of ingredients! No chicken, no pasta dishes and 3 out of 4 cheeses for the quattro fromagio pizza out of stock! However we still had a good time and the waitress was lovely. Still taking Tesco deals vouchers I believe so a bargain meal.

This is a standard Pizza Express, which means great pizza’s at reasonable prices. The staff at this outlet all seem to be very friendly and provide a very quick service. I took advantage of their recent internet voucher Buy one, get the most expensive free, bill came to £5.75 between the two of us, BARGAIN!

This restaurant provides good value, quick meals. In the centre of Cardiff, it is a good place to have a quiet lunch. It tends to attract young professionals or groups of women friends. The few children in this restaurant tend to be well behaved and ‘seen and not heard’. The menu is the same across all the Pizza Express brand. This means that I know I will get a decent meal. I particularly like the classic lasagne and the pear tart to follow. The Italian beer and the Sicilian lemonade are both refreshing drinks and something just that little bit different. The staff tend to be young and I’m sure some are students working to finance their studies. I have always found them to be cheerful, upbeat and welcoming.

When i went here the staff were really lovely so I think it totally depends which waiter you get as to your level of service. The food was, as ever, really delicious although if you get jammed at either end of the restaurant by the doors then you do feel a little out of it. Good selection of drinks and decent prices — your standard pizza express.

Rude staff who are bitter about having to work there. Had terrible service, wrong orders, no drinks, one persons meal didnt show up until everyone else had finished so we decided not to leave a tip and were shouted at by staff! Would not go there again!

A great pizza that never fails to deliver. Prefer the one down the bay though the views are nicer and you can sit outside. However, this is great little pizza express just to nip into and get some grub. Their wine list is short but serves some suprisingly good offers. Children’s tastes are well catered for too, something for everyone a good all rounder!

Booked a christmas meal for my office of about 20 people. We had terrible service all night. One meal arrived 15 mins after everyone elses. Drinks were wrongly ordered. Rude waitress. When I refused to tip, she publically had a go at me and the entire resteraunt watched. She said ‘I could be anywhere I dont have to be here serving you and you wont even tip me’ Not my problem, provide a better service you rude woman.

A nice variety of pizzas and pasta meals here although it is more expensive than a number of other pizza restaurants and quality at Pizza Express is often variable.
I would approach a meal there with caution, especially as lots of other good quality Italian restaurants are nearby

Pizza Express is a chain of restaurants which it’s menu consists of a variety of different pizzas and pastas. Basically Pizza Express is an expensive version of Pizza Hut. Instead of Pizza Huts relaxed fast food atmosphere Pizza Express offers a more posh restaurant feel and so do it’s prices, a lot more expensive than Pizza Hut for what you get, but all in all the pizzas are of a high tasty quality. A really nice venue, spacious and cool soft lighting and such a nice aroma of pizza dough and tomatoes when you walk in.
