Minsky’s Show Bar

We were a mixed age party, we booked seating and attended on a Saturday night. Fantastic night good age range and something that catered for everyone. lovely friendly staff and really good prices on drinks considering its the city centre. Can't wait o go back

For hen nights, light-​hearted Minsky’s is a firm favourite — and you can expect LOTS of groups of giggling women dressed up in matching outfits, screeching along to the music and shaking their booties. If you’re part of one of those groups, it can be great fun, but it’s certainly quite an in-​your-​face kind of a bar.
This place has been entertaining audiences for about 14 years, and there’s nowhere else like it in Cardiff. At some points in the evening the bar itself is transformed into a stage for the drag divas’ caberet acts, which usually combine singing and stand up comedy — along with a generous portion of audience participation. Divas such as Pixie Perez and Fanny Dazzle strut their stuff and create an atmosphere that seems to encourage even the more shy customers to lose some of their inhibitions and join in with the fun.
The venue itself is quite dingy and shabby, but this seems kind of appropriate considering the cheap drinks and raucous behaviour — although apparently it’s about to undergo an extensive facelift so perhaps this won’t be the case for long!

This is a surprising place; it’s a whole lot different than you might expect! Rather than a totally seedy night out, you’ll most likely have a wonderfully fun night out.

Minksy’s is just a really brilliant place. Went there for a hen party a few months ago not really knowing what to expect and a little bit worried that I wouldn’t enjoy it. Needless to say that I more than enjoyed it, I loved it.
The performers are so much fun, everyone gets involved and there’s a really good chance you’ll be dancing at the bar at some point in the night.
Its a pretty cheap night out too, prices must be kept down so you lose a few inhibitions and go for it. Great experience.

Erm, I had no clue what I was being ‘dragged’ into by my mates before hand.
It was made very clear however upon the show starting. ‘Fanny Dazzle’ Shocked and wowed me in equal measures. I could not stop laughing and was throughly entertained throughout the night. There’s a very silly non serious atmosphere within all the punters as well as the entertainers, something you don’ get in many bars in the land.
If your a little bit more open minded and like a good laugh I really can recommend you visiting here and seeing what it’s all about.

Roll up roll up! Come and see the most spectacular of divas, dance to cheesy 90s music and get hammered for about a tenner and Minsky’s show bar!
I first discovered this gem on a night out a few years back. Stuck for ideas and looking for somewhere to dance I stumbled down a dark alley only guided by the sound of B*Witched and the Spice Girls. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven so my companion and I followed the sounds to an underground dive around the back of Debenhams. When we got there it was sticky floors and middle aged women in pink cow boy hats, definitely my scene.
There’s a great long bar (more on that later) and a balcony with a few tables scattered around but there is plenty of dancing space to get your groove on. You can chuck back cheap beers and neon coloured alcopops but don’t expect anything too complex because the bar staff aren’t really able to cope when it gets busy.
Now, about the bar…
The bar does this weird transformer style thing at a couple of times during the night where it becomes a stage and you will be dazzled by the acts. It’s sequins, big hair and tucking because it’s all about boys playing girls and belting out Bonnie Tyler. The drag acts are fantastically witty and do a comedy come cabaret act that makes the audience weep with laughter and dance their socks off.
Expect lots of bitching, heckling and audience participation as the ‘ladies’ tear the room a new one.
Crowd is mostly women on their hen nights and students.
It is utterly fantastic and NOT to be missed.
