The lady who works there was so helpful in picking out my prom dress, she was honest and did not try to show the most expensive dresses my way. She picked out the ones I liked and her recommendations for my body type. To my shock, there was a man there too (I'm guessing the owner) who was actually really nice despite what everyone has said about him he was nice and helped us carry the dress to the car. He was not rude in any way shape or form

The shop owner is the RUDEST man I have EVER met. He follows you around the shop, straightening anything you have dared to touch and if you try something on but don't end up wanting to buy then expect the item to be snatched out of your hand and have a rude remark uttered at you. AVOID at all costs.

I’ve always bought a lot here despite the rude and charmless owner. He does have a reputation. As someone else has said on this site, you are followed around with him correcting and reorganising anything you dare to look at. I realise the need to make the rails look tidy but he could at least wait until you have left the shop. It’s really offputting. Today took the biscuit though. Two people in the shop and he complained that I took six items in to the changing room. I took three out and hung them elsewhere, saying that I would be quick. Sadly, I didn’t find anything to fit and on my way out, still in the doorway, he said to another customer ‘I don’t know why she bothered’. How can you buy if you don’t try? He was clearly stressed by having a few — a few — people in the shop. He seems to have forgotten why he is there. He is there because of the customers. Clearly in the wrong business. I was shocked that he even thought it, let alone said it. Since when was it a rule that you had to buy if you try?! The final straw I’m afraid. Rude and unnecessary so I won’t be going there again. He probably won’t care as that’s the kind of man he clearly is but reputation is beyond price. And so is word of mouth. Very upsetting.

Rudest Shop owner I have ever met! The ladies who work here are lovely, helpful and knowledgeable. Just do not visit when the owner is present. He is rude aggressive and does not make for a pleasant shopping experience. Do not touch the coat hangers or dare to put a hanger back incorrectly! Customer service is not his forte, It’s a shame when there are some lovely pieces of clothing and jewellery. I along with many other«customers» refuse to ever set foot in here ever again.

I wish I’d known about this shop before my 6th Form Leavers Ball. I didn’t go because I knew whatever dress I wore wouldn’t compare to the dress I’d had made for my Year 11 Prom. If I’d discovered this shop before, I’d definitely have gone. This shop sells the most beautiful gowns I’ve ever seen, and the ones on display in the window change weekly and they’re always even lovelier than the ones they replace. They also sell gowns from a size 2 to a size 16, which is a fantastic range, and definitely something I could have done with, having really struggled to find a dress in my size. There are other clothes on sale here besides gowns, and they are just as lovely. The lady who manages the store is really helpful, too, and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of her stock which is rare. This shop makes me want to marry a really rich man so that I can go to fancy balls and dinners and wear every single gown from this shop.

Luxor is managed by a very knowledgeable woman called Heather. She seems to know everything! And I don’t mean just fashion! She also knows everything there is to be known about the other shops on the Wellfield Road. This area is nothing if not a tight knit community! She also knows a thing or two about sartorial taste, branding, and what works well in this part of town. There are clear aspirations to the business that she runs. It is targeted to the 16 to 45 age range and offers unique clothes at affordable prices. There is nothing smug about Heather, but there is a calm confidence born of the understanding that she occupies a niche in the market that has allowed this Persian owned business to fair quite well throughout the recession. The fact that the owner is Persian is no small influence in the success of the shop as well. Not only are the Iranians world-renowned for their sophisticated taste, but this also means that he has access to clothing manufacturers that no-one else knows about. It’s perfect recipe for success! Original, intelligently designed, well made clothing, stocked at reasonable prices, with no repeat stock, keeping the look of the place really fresh and eminently enticing!
