I was in Cardiff on the weekend for my works AGM, and I had a few hours to kill on the Saturday in the town centre. Obviously finding somewhere to eat was high on my priority list, and so I’d done some searching on Unilocal before arriving. I’d decided Cosy Club had to be my lunch destination as it served Gluten free foods, including my favourite, burgers! Cosy Club is very easy to find, as it is in the main shopping area. As you enter there is a large stair case with an old time chandelier hanging down from the high ceiling. Don’t worry there are lifts too, for those less able. Once you reach the top the restaurant is decked out in old saloon style furniture, big old wooden tables, mismatched wooden chairs, and large dome lights. It has some stuff animal heads on the walls, so if that’s not your thing, I’d try to find a seat that doesn’t face them. The place was really busy, and we were told there was a 45min wait, which was perfect, as we weren’t really hungry just yet. So we sat in the bar area, and had some drinks. I can highly recommend the cooling lemonade, its filled with fresh mint, and lemons, and is super delicious. My colleague had a hot chocolate with marshmallows, which she couldn’t get enough of. After around 45mins, we were taken to our table. We ordered our food. The food did take a bit of time to come, but they were busy, and we weren’t in any hurry. I had the burger, which was huge. The meat was good well, and the gluten free bun was also cooked well. The skin on fries were also a hit amongst our table. My colleague got the pork bites, which were a bit fattie for her. But otherwise the potato tapas and fish fingers were yummy. The prices were good, the bill for my burger and lemonade was under £13, which is a bargain.
