When I visit from the US there are two things I do very quickly after touching down at Heathrow. Fish and Chips and a Ruby. I was delivering a training course nearby so made the trip into town to get my curry fix. The place was busy for a Monday evening but the service was very quick. I ordered the prawn and purée followed by a king prawn Jalfrezi. The Jalfrezi was spectacular. Just the right level of spice and chili … not too hot, but not mild by any stretch. Sometimes you get way too much fresh chili in a jalfrezi making it too hot to appreciate the flavor … but not here. The shrimp was shredded like chicken which I haven’t encountered before. Maybe living in the US and being starved of anything vaguely recognizable as decent Indian food has skewed my taste buds but I really thought the food was top notch here. Only disappointment was the fizzy? red house wine. Quite disgusting.

For US standard, the food at this place is okay. For UK standard, better food can be found elsewhere. The venue itself is quite nice, very large space and nice atmosphere. We had a large team dinner here with 20+ people, and since there was another group dinner taking place upstairs, we were placed at the large table by the door and things became a little squeezy on one side of the table. The food took a while to come and it was a bit chaotic, since we had a lot people and it’s difficult to remember who got what, but some of us was not getting the right dishes and type of rices. I think I was among the last to get her dish, and I was a bit confused whether they’ve forgotten my order. The food also leaves something to be desired, the king prawn was a bit tasteless and the sauce was blend, lacking the kick from spices that I come to adore as indian food. The mango kulfi was good though, milky and light at the same time.
