I always enjoy a ride on the good old SDR and so do my family. No matter the weather, time of year, day of the week it is always a great experience and the Volunteers and staff are always welcoming and friendly. Reasonably priced, easy parking and a well advertised running schedule. Keep up the good work. At Buckfastleigh station there is an excellent, roomy buffet and a well stocked model shop. At the Totnes end it is a great delight in summer to sit and watch the shunting over a cup of tea and a cake.

Lovely ride on a proper steam train. Only trouble was the journey wasn’t long enough.
There were disabled people in our group but we had no problems gaining access.
We travelled from Totnes to Buckfastleigh and it was just like going back in time. Nice walk from the car park at Totnes station, which had disabled car parking facilities. From there it was a moderate walk to the steam train station for the proper train ride.
We went in the summer and it was a lovely scenic and peaceful journey, along the river.
Need to check timetable online as mainly runs in high season.
Our only regret was not taking the boat and train package which we only found out about after! Something for next time!

Another great steam train ride day out, the best part for us was the stonkingly good ice cream, best we’ve had for years, sold on the platform at buckfastleigh station. The train was comfy and had good disabled access and friendly staff. Ah halcyon days.
