We swung into the Triton Inn after a day’s cycle as part of our trek across the UK. Located in Brantingham, this place appears to be the place to be. There were several parties going on and the private hire room was also in use. The food here is good. There were two menus; a steak menu and a seasonal menu, which is a great thing to see. I had pork loin in a mustard and bacon sauce with sautéed potatos. Yes, I was hungry, but honestly, the dish was really tasty. The pork was tasty and succulent; probably just cooked past rare and the sauce had bags of flavour. The potatoes were delicious and crisp. For dessert, I had a salted caramel cheesecake. Again, this was wonderfully presented and well executed. We were able to get some off menu drinks(a bloody mary and port) with a minimum of fuss. The staff were really friendly. The price isn’t cheap — my main course cost about £16. But for the quality of food and service, I was happy to pay. I’m unlikely to be in this part of the world again, but if I am, I know where I’ll be going for dinner.

I was here for my friends wedding reception and it was a very nice venue. The rooms were spacious and the décor was classy, plus it is located in a very pretty village. The staff were friendly and the food tasted divine! I had a seared salmon fillet with veg and then a lemon posset for dessert, which was totally mouthwatering! While there wasn’t a cocktail menu, the staff were more than helpful when I asked them to make some cocktails and attended patiently to my every request.(I am a fussy drinker but they made an exceptional French Martini!) I would definitely go there for food if i was in the area.

This is one of the best pub restaurants in the area friendly waiters and waitresses, a good wide menu of mainly British food, but best of all, its fresh food the fish certrainly is, as my cousin delivers it for their supplier. The plates are always piping hot, which helps keep everything at the right temperature. Steak Pie is delicious, and they do halibut as well, quite unusual for a pub though the Triton is more of a restaurant than a pub. Another good thing is, it must be the only place that stays open all day doing food, AND its open on a Monday as well when most other pubs and restaurants round here are closed. Its only a ten minute drive from my village, I wish it was close enough to walk home!

Must be about the best place for food around. Its quite a big place with a massive car park and very friendly staff who welcome you when you enter and then find you a table and keep their eye on things for you to make sure you have enough drinks, etc. The menu has mainly English food, things like their home made Steak Pie which is very popular but they also do lots of fresh fish like monkfish and halibut as well as crabs from Brid’. They get their fruit and veg at the nearby growers. We have a Gluten Free person in our family and it was them who first recommended this place because they will always cook meals specially for you if you have allergies or other eating preferences, which shows they have proper chefs. The menu changes very often and there are different Specials Board, including a Teatime special where you can get two courses for £10, but I don’t think this includes fillet steak. Their ice cream is the best Ive ever had, its from the Yorkshire Dales. Brilliant with fresh strawberries. Not found any faults with the Triton at all and we go there at least once most weeks.

A fairly average run of the mill place. Staff seemed young and disinterested. The food was OK but not worth going out of your way for. At a guess its owned by a pubco with temporary tenants as it seems a bit uncared for and needs investment. Theres a lot of choice when going out these days so I would not place this place high on the list of places to go We stopped off on the way back to York after visiting friends who had recently moved to the area. I am sure they will find better places to spend their hard earned cash than this. I work in Hull 3 days a week and could think of a dozen places with a similar offering that do a much better job than this outfit. Its a bit 1980s in style and not inoffensive, just not vey good.

friend of ours had there wedding reception here in july 11, the lay out was fantastic, bar staff very speedy, as it was busy, the draw back was the price of drinks, large G&T and a pint cost my man just under a tenner!!! we tried a little of the buffet and i have to admit, it was a good buffet!, not one brown edge on the salad leaves, the filo wrapped prawns where fantastic! there was a very nice selection, pasta salads, sandwiches etc, they also re freshed the dishes, so all the food was served at its best! it was fiddly to get to, but nice parking area, so i would recomend this place for receptions of sorts, its also been recomended to us as a place to go to eat, and if the buffet was anything to go by, we’ll be making a trip out sometime soon :)

Visited the Triton on a Thursday lunchtime in late February, 2011. The atmosphre was fine, for that time of day, with a number of diners partaking in the excellent fare on offer. The meals my two friends and I had were super and the prices were very reasonable. One of the featured real ales ran out before the whole order had been completed and my friends had to settle for something else but this can happen and there were no complaints. Décor and ambience are of a high order. There is plenty of room and a feeling of space, and I guess this still applies when the place is busier. I will certainly be back.

Just been voted locally restaurant of the year & anyone who has eaten here will understand why the food is excellent & service too. They serve sunday lunches from 12.00 til 8pm, freshly cooked but also regular menu meals available for adults & children. This place caters for people with wheelchairs etc as all on 1 floor, but mainly popular with walkers as its close to Wolds Way & Trans PennineTrail. There’s a huge car park so no worries on parking They cater for anyone dieting etc by having lighter, healthy, vegetarian & gluten free meals They have cabaret/artist evenings & also cater for weddings, christenings etc
