Would visit TB again for a drink but not for food. It’s badly cooked and nothing like Caribbean food should be. The cocktail menu is pretty good though with everything you’d expect and a few new drinks I’d never heard of. The staff in the central Bristol branch are super nice!

This was fun. 241 cocktails — followed by dominos(not pizza the game, we looked it up the rules as there were some on the table) Set up for cocktails, we had 4 between the two of us, yummy! Classic beach style. The centre of the place had a beach hut, chilled out vibe, just a real shame it just made me want to go back to SE asia. Also — the service was really good! Friendly and good cocktails. Laid back, it was quick service, but it was a weekday at 5pm.

Part of a chain, which explains the mediocre food. Sat at the back of the restaurant which was so hot to be uncomfortable. Sophie our waitress was delightful. Cocktails ok, but don’t bother with the after dinner ones. Ok for a chain but don’t think I will bother again

Super tasty food that tastes like classic carribean. Plus happy hour 2−4−1 cocktails after 10pm! Not a bad choice even if you’re not a student

I love TB been here quite a few times now. Mainly for the 2for1 cocktails, and eaten here a few times. I just love the whole experience, reminds me and being back in Barbados again. Same sort of food on the menu and the sauces bring back memories. Couldnt decide which cocktail as too many to choose from so the lady behind the bar started asking me what i liked and recommended one which i liked. We had a table booked as past experience they are hit and miss with having spaces on walk ins. I ended up having a jerk chicken wrap with salad and side of sweet pot fries which are my absolute fav! Recommend these and the sweetcorn fritters are yummers. We also shared a platter for starters which works between 3 people just beware the pepper roti is spicy! The bill came and very reasonable. Think the 2for1 cocktails helped as it felt like we had so many. You can see the chefs cooking too through open kitchen behind the bar. You can just go sit in the bar area for the drinks too, or the outdoor seating in the summer. If you dont like carribean food then just come for the drinks between 5 – 7 everyday is the 2for1 on any coktail, but the food is defo worth a go :)

This place has changed my life. I went here with a friend from work one night after dinner and he ordered me a ‘Rum Runner,’ I was adamant I hated rum, I told him to cancel the order, refused to drink it — I knew I’d hate it. But wow, amazing, when you watch them make your cocktail in front of you at the open 360 bar you can see the array of complex flavours that go in to the drink and will completely change your view on everything. The setting is great, Jamaican theme with comfortable seats, sofas and stools, defined bar and restaurant areas. Oh yeah, the restaurant– the food is great, a little on the spicy side with the majority of the menu as its jerk dominated but don’t let that put you off, last time I went I had the pulled pork and it was great, nice and moist, packed full of flavour. So give it a go, happy hour is every day 12 – 7 and 10−1am(I think) so you will get two cocktails for £7, god they’re worth it. Maybe not for £7 each though! So let the Rasta out that you know is inside of you. Jah bless

Go here for drinks and a atmosphere and nothing else. Food is below weatherspoon standards. Drinks deals, staff and location make up the 3 stars.

This place is always very lively and full of people getting very merry swigging back Cocktails. That might lead you to believe it won’t be the best place for food but don’t let it put you off as the food is fantastic. But before we get on to that, back to the cocktails! They have 241 cocktails until 7pm and after 10pm. My favourite was the Tobago Tea, but everyone I sampled was lovely. Worth getting there for the deals as it’s £6.95 a pop if I remember rightly. For food I shared a sweetcorn fritter starter, you got four fritters and a BBQ dip, it was nothing very special but definitely tasty. For mains we shared a prawn and mango curry which came with rice and peas, it was really tasty with a good kick. We also shared the jerk salmon which was spiced beautifully. It came with a salad and we opted for sweet potato mash. In hindsight I’d have gone for the fries. The desert was AMAZING, choc brownie with coconut ice cream and a orange moose. This place is noisy and and full of merry people but it you can get past that then the food and drink is amazing. Great place to celebrate a birthday!

With the sun shinning and all the miles of sight seeing and walking taking it’s tole on our feet, out bellies was starting to give off sounds hinting that they needed filling lol After reading reviews off here about turtle bay in Birmingham and knowing Bristol had one aswell I thought it was only right we went and gave it a go. When we turned up the places was rammed inside and out but we was shown a table straight away even tho it was really busy the place was still spacious so you didn’t feel like you was being squeezed it like some places. The restaurant was decked out in a lovely Caribbean theme, I have never been but after watching cool runnings and cocktail I feel like a expert haha! The music they played aswell set the mood perfectly especially with the sun shinning and filling the restaurant. We didn’t have to wait long to order our drinks or food and was taken by surprise how quickly the good turned up on our table(we wasn’t complaining either because the smell of food was making us hungrier by the second lol) This is another place I will be visiting again in Birmingham very soon, the food and restaurant def gets a thumbs up from me!

I had never eaten Caribbean food before trying turtle bay so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. Turtle bay itself is a great venue, the décor is really cool and colourful and the music is always playing quite loud, which personally I quite like. They have floor to ceiling windows with an outdoor seating area which looks great and when you see people drinking their cocktails, it’s instantly inviting. They have happy hour from 12−7pm then 10pm– close which is fab & the cocktails are delicious! I ordered the jerk chicken wrap and the sweet potato fries. The wrap was so tasty but just WAY to spicy for my taste buds, this isn’t a negative though as I think I suffered more than anyone else in my party. I will definitely be returning here, even just for cocktails on a summers Eve.

I LOVE Caribbean food. FACT! I’d go as far as saying it’s up there with Thai as my favourite cuisine. Bristol has a number of excellent independent Caribbean restaurants that ‘look’ and feel much more authentic. So expectations weren’t that high for the food, but I was expecting a good time. From the outside Turtle Bay looks fun and you can tell before you get inside that looks you’re going to have a good time. The big windows allow you to see in from afar and just the sight of people drinking cocktails is enough to draw you in. That, couples with the outdoor seating bang in the centre of town, Turtle Bay couldn’t look more appealing. In my eyes anyway! As you walk in you get straight to the central bar, which, if I’m honest, doesn’t feel that well positions. Behind that, however, is a wall made of speakers. I’m a music lover so I absolutely loved it; «i want a wall of speakers’ I believe were my exact words! And I am tempted! I’ve actually eaten here 3 times now and Ive had the Pulled Chicken, Shrimp Curry & Jerk Chicken. I was extremely impressed with all of them. Turtle Bay do a light menu that is available all day and all dishes on the menu are £6.85 — absolutely bargain! Turtle Bay also have an extensive cocktail list with 2−4−1 offers. I’ll have to check the days and times, but I think they are every day until 7pm — I’ll check and edit if I’m wrong! Again, I’ve tried a few, but the stand outs for me are Marley Mojiti and the Jammin’. The Jammin’ and comes with a spoonful of Jam-in. Love it! All in all I’ve been thoroughly impressed every time I’ve been, and I’m sure to be back again soon.

I returned to this restaurant based on my previous experience, the food is still great I’m pleased to say. On this visit however the hostess(not the waitress who was great) was totally gormless and had no concept of how to do her job. When I asked if we could reserve a table for 6 she had no clue whether she could or not. Despite there being a reservations book in front of her she chose not to consult it and said that we could maybe eat in 45 minutes. Maybe? Another one of my colleagues went up and asked when a table would be ready and the same person said 10 minutes. One of the problems with this place is the 2 for 1 cocktail offer which crowds the place out. The cocktails are sloppy and because the bar staff are so busy making cocktails they aren’t very careful with either the measures or presentation. I had two cocktails and there was virtually no booze in either. I was not impressed.
