Great food, particularly because it wasn’t greasy. This was on a busy Saturday night too.

Popped in for a quick lunch on Saturday lunchtime.\place was deserted — in fact we thought it was closed until a member of staff approached us. The place is clean and bright but a little soulless. We opted for the lunch time special. The food was good and the portion size was just right for a lunch time. Would I visit again — probably — but on an evening when we weren’t the only customers !!

Located next door to the obscenely chavy Oceana nightclub, Tikka Flame suffers slightly from being so close to such a hideous establishment. No joke, I actually thought it was a nightclub as well the first time I saw it. As subtle it certainly is not. Despite my reservations, this place is not a giant curry house(as I thought it might be). Nor is it a high end Indian restaurant serving traditional cuisine. It’s sort of sits comfortably somewhere inbetween them both. Which is actually quite good and was probably something that was missing for Bristol’s restaurants. The service is pretty good, the décor(despite it’s exterior) is quite nicely done inside also. They have the distinct if a little irritating touch of playing Bollywood movies throughout the restaurant.

Tikka Flame is located near the Waterfront and the centre of Bristol. It is nicely designed, very fresh and classy which is in keeping to the surrounding area. Inside, the restaurant is spacious and clean. The staff were really friendly and efficient. They served our food with a smile. The food is also very good, serving authentic Indian and Pakistani cuisine. They do a really good special grill dish which contains a large variety of meats and flavours. Price wise, the Tikka Flame is a little more expensive than most Indian restaurants. A vindaloos and masalas are £11 without rice.

A curry house with class and a modern twist. We went here on a work’s do and weren’t disappointed with the spciy curries and tasty grills on offer. They also coped well with the large group of customers. Smart and stylish interiors make for comfy dining. The poppadums are freshly fried and the chutneys are chunky and homemade tasting. As well as all your faves like Biriyani and Madras, mixed up with a few Pakistani dishes you won’t have tried. All have fresh herbs and are very distinctive in flavour. I found it slightly random that they also serve spring rolls and nachos. Not traditionally Indian, but hey! Bollywood music serenades your evening and the lighting is subtle. A good stop off point of you’re out for drinks on the waterfront.

No this is not a ‘traditional’ british curry house, but that is a good thing, it is so much better! The ambience and surroundings are sublime, the screens playing bollywood films are a great touch, all the colours and authentic music set the mood perfectly. Then there is the good stuffthe food! For starter you must must have the mixed platter, it is the greatest starter you will ever eat. i promise! The choice of mains are great, some traditional dishes mixed with some beautiful unique specialities, i have eaten too many dishes to reccommend one, but everone that i have had has been beautiful, also the rice is the finest i have ever eaten, the peshwari rice is an absolute must! The only slight dissapointment was the limited choices of desserts, however i reccommend ordering the jug of mando lassi, it is gorgeous and provides a great finish to the meal! Tikka flame stands head and shoulders above the other bristol indians that i have eaten in such as Old India, Oh Calcutta, Raj poot etc. If you have not been to this go, go now! No review could do this Restaurant justice, you have to eat there to understand just how good it is!

We’d wanted to go to Tikka Flame for a while — it is located centrally near the Watershed, and it looks smart, with attractive interior and good table spacing. The menu looked great when we walked past( ). The prices of main meals are not cheap at £9−15(without drinks, sides, coffees and puds). Though the restaurant is big, at the time we visited(Tuesday 1pm beginning of December) it was nearly empty. The main meat dish I chose was lovely; BBQ king prawns — huge butterflied prawns, spicy and juicy, covered with seasame seeds, with a dipping sauce for it. I really enjoyed it. Accompanying salad was unimaginative; straight chopped lettuce with slice of lemon. The problem with the restaurant on the day we visited was the atmosphere. For example one odd thing was some pumping house music when we arrived, which was rather intrusive even though the volume was turned down a bit after five minutes; we were quite close to leaving before we ordered. For an empty restaurant the service was almost non-existent, and we decided not to stay for coffee or pud. I think the main food here is great, and maybe we went on a bad day, but I definitely think it’s overpriced.
