The only true Public House left on Whiteladies Road. Very welcoming local with great ales, and decent wine. Food menu also looks perfect for the traditional pub setting. An excellent alternative to the rest of the area, which is chain bars and student places.

If you are unfortunate enough to find yourself on Whiteladies Road, you can rejoice in the fact that you are close to one of Bristol’s loveliest traditional pubs. The real ales are excellent, the landlord friendly and the food good(and reasonably priced) If you do drop in, go for a pint of ale, and a steak.

New landlord has cleaned up the customer base and it is back to being a proper pub. Beers is exceptionally well kept and the atmosphere is good. Lunch menu looks really good if you like proper pub food, and the quiz night on thursdays is really busy. All in all, excellent to have a proper pub back on Whiteladies road.

I spent most of my years in Bristol mistaking this pub for ‘The Victoria’ but just like its name, there are many things that make it stand out as a great venue on Whiteladies Road. Firstly, the bright red paint job has certainly given it more curb appeal, amplifying it’s tall and thin stature. The personality and charm continues inside and is the total opposite of some of Whiteladies’ soulless wine bars. There is a large stack of board games in the centre and this is a great place to go to for a quiet midweek drink. The clientele are a lot more chilled out then the bar frequenting kind and there are plenty of decent beers on tap too.

This used to be one of my locals. I say one of, because in theory Sasparilla or The Ranch were my local but I’ve always favoured old man pubs over trendy bars. So by default, The Vittoria was my local. When I first moved to the area the pub really did scream old man’s working pub to the point of intimidation but then it was taken over by new management, given a lick or paint and stocked up with board games and it started attracting some of the local student population. Now it is a good solid old man pub but is not just confined to old men. Brilliant. They serve food too and we found this an ideal way to while away a Sunday afternoon, some decent British pub grub, a pint of ale and a two-hour long game of Snakes and Ladders. Enough already!

One of the oft-titled ‘trendy’ Whiteladies’ Road’s few traditional pubs, the Vittoria has recently repainted its façade from an unassuming burgundy to bright red. Before you accuse a drinking stalwart of trying too hard to keep up with the times, the colour change luckily hasn’t affected the atmosphere within. The Vittoria remains as unpretentious, laid-back and characterful as it was was before. There’s a wide selection of drinks, a faithful crowd of regulars and entertainment most nights of the week ranging from a quiz(with free curry doled out while the answers are checked) to steak or sausage tasting nights. Undoubtedly né of the best places on Whiteladies for a quiet(especially weeknight) drink.

A rather doll’s house looking pub, but don’t be missled! This pub is very popular with the sports watching community, and is often packed full during football and Rugby games. What I appreciate is that they seem to prefer Rugby in here than football, it’s so refreshing to find somewhere that doesn’t automatically give football the prime slot! So if your a Rugby fan you’ll like this place! They have an impressive aray of regional beers, and they are all very tasty! Believe me, I should know! Wells Bombadier bitter is always a popular choice.

Tucked a little out of sight, this fine pub is the perfect spot for whiling a Saturday afternoon away with some mates, watching a bit of football, rugby or cricket(depending on the season, of course), seeing as it’s fairly intimate and rarely packed to the rafters. The best thing about it is the selection of ales that seem to change fairly regularly, meaning there’s always something new to try — and some of it is damn fine, too. You can tell that the clientele think that they’ve found a good spot away from the bustle of Whiteladies in this pub, and I have to admit, they’re right.

The Vittoria can be found along the stretch of trendy-looking bars on Whiteladies Road, but it’s not quite like the others. The pub is popular with the locals, features guest ales and is pretty small so draws a completely different crowd to the others here. If you’re a rugby fan, visit this pub as they show rugby before football and if you just want a decent pint and none of the trashy dance music you’ll get with other bars in this area, The Vittoria is a great place to come out.

New landlord has turned it back into a proper pub, with quizzes, poker nights, and steak night. Gone is the jukebox, and the rugby shirts on the wall, and a good selection of ale is now on offer. Students and football teams have gone, and the locals have moved back in. A great local for the normal folk of clifton.
