I don’t think this place is a bad as some people say it is, or indeed the reputation that it has, I have only been once or twice but each time I had a pleasent expierience. Located at the bottom of Snady park high street you often see people charging down the hill towards the Sandringham itching for a pint. The recent sunny weather has seen a boost in people going here and I feel that the more people that pop in here the nicer the place seems to get. I think if you find yourself in here with only one or two people then the vibe drastically changes.

This pub is nothing short of a dive. Run down and dreary, it makes no attempt to captivate potential punters. I popped in for an afternoon drink the other day and was made to feel like an alien invader. Think Local Pub for Local People multiplied by a very large number. The venue has a large screen TV and shows all major sports games. It also hosts the occasional live band. Such entertainment will serve as a worthy distraction from the pub’s seedy vibe. Another bonus is that the drinks are reasonably priced. But I’m clutching at straws here. Unless your day couldn’t get any worse, and all you crave is a cheap drink, I would advise you walk on by.

I am often wary of places that claim to merge traditional and modern. The Sandringham, a pretty fluted and turreted pub in Arnos Vale, does seem to succeed. Built during the reign of Edward VII, there’a a touch of wooden country features here, some hops strewn there for good measure and two absolutely cracking open fires — I’m a happy girl. Modernity comes in the form of slick décor and seating, and swish toilets. Plus Thatchers Gold Cider, plenty of beers and ales. There’s often footie on the telly, darts tournaments and a competitive quiz night. Prober job!
