The Junction is a fabled venue on Stokes Croft. Until it recently changed hands, it used to be the only exclusively punk venue left in Bristol. Since being taken over by the family that own Mr Wolfs, things have changed quite a bit, although they are keen to retain some of the character that it possessed before they came to rescue it from its slow and steady demise. Being a one hundred capacity venue means that the possibilities for change are quite restricted. That is of course whilst it remains a music venue. Had it been taken over by a restaurant, the outcome would have been dramatically different. With a mixture of open mic nights and set gigs, The Junction manages to keep its doors open most nights of the week. It’s easier to find out what’s going n these days. With Ents24 handling The Junction ticket sales, we are guaranteed regular listings for the venue.

The Junction is one of Bristol’s gig hotspots located in the cultural area of Stokes Croft. This venue is particularly good for band practice as well as for checking out local talent. It’s a pretty small place, but I find that this makes the music experience better as you get more of a personal experience. This is not the sort of place you would get any big name bands playing, mainly because of the size of the place! But it’s definitely a cool little place and somewhere a bit different to check out. The Junction has a reasonably priced bar too so you can grab a couple of drinks and chill out to whatever music’s going on — they don’t have much seating though, so maybe not the kind of place you’d hit with a big group of you. Check out the wall inside for listings, or have a look at Bristol ticket shop — you might find there’s something you really fancy going along too!

The Junction is one of those places where you should go to if you and your mates can’t figure out what to do that particular evening. It always promises a good night out and you won’t break the bank whist at it! There is most likely to be a local live band on which are usually very good. Music is just right in the sense that it’s quiet enough so you can have a good conversation but loud enough to fill any awkward silences that might occur. The bar staff are wonderful. They are friendly and efficient which I think is important — there is nothing worse than an inexperienced staff member who takes an age to pour a pint of beer. I find that The Junction is good on any day of the week so pop along anytime.

The few times I have been here have been brilliant. Even though it is a relativly small place there is a brilliant vibe. I came here one night on a thursday and Lead Exhibitions had organised the night, it was brilliant, live music from a few up and coming Bristol bands and a good crowd to match. The bar tenders are very friendly, and seem to immediatley spot if your pint is running low so when you’ve finished it and turn to the bar they are there ready and waiting for your order! Definatley worth checking out.

The Junction has recently changed hands after struggling for months on end to stay afloat — the former owner regularly tried to flog his own record collection on the premises to bring in some extra cash! Now it’s owned by Mr Wolf, but kept the original name, rather than being called Mr Wolfs II or something equally dire. However, rather than sticking with the punk and metal bands that used to grace its tiny stage, the musical remit has been widened to include the trendier indie and electronic acts that play at Mr Wolfs in town, and there’s also late night drinking to be found on Friday and Saturday nights with more club-friendly dance tunes being played out, including house and funk numbers. To sum up, the place is now much friendlier than before, with a few beat up but comfy sofas for groups and a bit more space to have a boogie thanks to the recent refurbishment. Definitely worth a visit at the very least.

The Junction is a pretty rough looking pub, but it is full of character. It has a strong crowd of ‘punk’ regulars, which informs much of the vibe of the place. It is an unpretentious, reasonably priced place and if you like rock or punk music, then you will feel right at home. Punk it up!

As I’m new to Bristol, I didn’t come here before the refit, but I heard the place used to be gross. I went to the Junction to see a fringe festival event and was certainly impressed. The venue is nice and intimate; with a small stage in the corner, a raised seating area opposite and a small standing space in the centre. The venue is owned by THE Mr Wolf of Mr Wolf’s, this alone should surely sell you the venue as a good place to watch a live gig. They’re making loads of effort with the programme this season, so keep your eyes peeled.
