An interesting metal pub in that it serves real ale and high quality food! Just two ales on when I arrived, usually there are more. Enjoyed a Saltaire Winter Ale Tucked into a veal schnitzl with sweet potatoe wedges. Very good feed! I was impressed. Enjoyed the music too, but that’s just me :)

‘Kareoke night’ the sign read outside the pub, so my friends and I(already slightly tipsy) thought it would be a fun way to end the evening. We went inside and got a few odd looks from the regulars. We thought nothing of it and enjoyed making everybody cover their ears at our horrendous singing. It wasn’t until later on in the night when we realised why we stood out — there were couples… lots of couples; pairs of girls and pairs of boys everywhere. We had been blind to the gay porn magazines spread across the tables showing ripped muscles, and a tv screen showing an array of penises. Then it hit, it was a gay bar! We continued the night having a great time with everyone, joining in with their songs and the bartender kept the drinks flowing. It wasn’t too busy but the atmosphere was buzzing. That may have been a result of our drinking, as the majority of the pub was filled with couples, but I would definitely go back expecting the same great time.

To be honest, there is nothing entirely special about The Griffin, it’s location is also doesn’t help with this. If you are loking for a place to go and enjoy a quiet drink in during the day or maybe somewhere that offers a peaceful enviroment ideal for small meetings between friends, without much commotion around you then do go a long and have a drink. The food in this place is fairly priced, but not exactly competetitve. I’ve only been here once, I don’t personally feel as though it is my kind of pub but do pop along yourself and pass your own judegement, especially if you do enjoy that quiet drink during the day!

You could easily miss this place as it sits on a bizzare road split. This means the pub looks like a really thin slice of cake. I’ve only ever come here during the day and it always seems pretty quiet, I think the food is pretty over priced and it’s a bit to far away from the centre to be a good place to meet for a lunch time pint or meal. Not my favourite spot.
