A popular venue on St John’s Lane, this sports bar will doubtless be heaving come the world cup! Mind you I am pretty sure all pubs will be! The viewing expierience is so much better though in the Brunel, most other bars with screens pale in comparison to the Brunels screen options! What is also good about this place is the pub-grub. A decent selection of food, and at a very reasonable price with many options for various meal deals. there is a standard alcohol selection, a little lacking perhaps in diversity but all the famous names can be found.

I have already got the seat that i will spend my world cup days perched on. I cant think of anywhere in Bristol that comes close to The Brunel for a match day pint whilst watching the game. The pub is great, it dos not offer the enormous range of guest beers that many of its fancy Clifton counterparts do. The food is good but it is even better value, i thoroughly recommend the curry which slips down a treat after a few pints when the hunger sets in.

I must say that I really like this place for watching a game and sometimes come out of my way with a bunch of mates just to watch a Premiership game — oh, and for the world cup, this will be pure bliss. Many’s the summer day I wasted here watching the cricket one summer when I was a student — damn, I miss those days. Anyway, they do a fairly decent curry here, which is always a good option to take away that one-pint-too-many feeling that this pub brings on all too easily. Honestly, it’s a good crowd down here and the atmosphere on game days is great.

A sprawling pub which can’t be missed if you’re travelling along St John’s Lane, The Brunel will suit the type of punter who appreciates multiple large screens hung throughout their drinking establishments. Every inch a sports pub, if you’re looking for somewhere lively to watch a big match, The Brunel will accommodate. The venue also offers a good selection of meal deals, such as two meals for £8 on a daily basis, in addition to Thursday’s curry club where you can purchase a curry and a drink for £5.95. Now that I’m done with the impartial facts, I’d just like to add that I’ve been here once and was entirely put off by the hubbub which emanated from the multiple TV’s. I’ve never appreciated TV’s in pubs as it is, and this place takes the number of TV’s one pub can actuallly possess to new limits. If you’re hoping for a few drinks and some audible conversation, I’d strongly advise you try somewhere other than The Brunel.
