I’ve been meaning to come here some evening for a Jazz night, I’ve been known to tap my toe to a bit of jazz funk! Also now that I’m getting on in me olé age, I quite like the fact that it has an over 25s policy. The Albert Inn is a really attractive friendly looking pub from the outside, its sunshine yellow exterior draws you in. However get closer and the fruit machines send you away screaming! I really hate fruit machines in a pub and big screen TVs with Sky Sports. Just not my thing. However it did have a nice range of beer and friendly staff so I may just head back some fine evening to enjoy some jazz funk and enjoy the beer garden.

Since the birth of possibly the greatest film the world has ever seen… «ANCHORMAN»! I have never looked at the word ‘Jazz’ in the same light(of course because of Mr Ron Burgandy’s Jazz/Yazz flute playing prowess) and the Albert Inn is reknowned for it’s Jazz nights, a great jolly feel and a smile is always seen by pretty much everyone inside. Located close to the train station it draws intrest from people from accross Bristol if a night has an especially big pull. With 2 local bristol cask ales this pub is a great ambassador for supporting local flavour… check it out!

When approaching Bedminster’s West Street, The Albert Inn is the first of a number of public houses you shall encounter along this street. With it’s ‘stand out’ yellow paint adorning the pub’s front it stands out amongst the busy crossroads and the jolly character also gracing it’s front tempts you in. The Albert Inn boasts a very cosy bar area, a multi-functional function room upstairs and also quite refreshingly for the smokers among the pub’s visitors, a nifty little beer garden to enjoy that nicotine hit. The only draw back is the pub’s over 25s policy — hitting the student community of Bedminster and therefore maintaining a more relaxed environment for the pub’s visitors.

This is definitely one of Bedminster’s livelier pubs, managing to remain busy throughout the week. It took me a while to pluck up the courage to enter, since there is often a horde of excitable, drunken locals gathered around the outside entrance, and the pumping nineties dance classics which regularly emanate from the place(endearing as they are) are also a little bit scary. Anyhow, after a couple of drinks elsewhere, a friend and I bit the bullet and popped in for a pint. It was a Friday night and the atmosphere was electric; the dance classics were blasting out and a group of locals were singing at each other in the bar area. The animosity I envisaged we might experience from them was all in my head(silly me), both punters and bar staff coming across as very friendly, and the drinks were well priced. This is one of the few pubs where I reckon you could get away with dancing on the tables(not that I’m advocating this, of course) Oh, and if you like karaōke, weekends at The Albert Inn rarely pass without it!
