I love Strada, as far as Italian chain restaurants go this is my favourite. I mean, don’t forget that’s what it is; you’re not going to have a truly remarkable, one-off experience here, but still the pizzas are delicious and not that badly priced at all. Plus the service has always been very good. They use good quality ingredients and the chilli oil is amazing. Try the Speck or Rossa if you like meaty, spicy pizzas that are delicious. I know it’s not a huge deal but they always put a bottle of table water down at the start of every meal so you don’t have to ask for it. Not a huge effort for them, but a classy and convenient touch nevertheless. I don’t eat here as much as I used to, but if you can find one of their discount vouchers around town I certainly recommend you take advantage of it(usually about 20% off the bill) and their selection of red wines is very good.

A bit out of place in Clifton Village, which is full of one-off businesses or smaller chains, Strada is not the most imaginative of restaurants, but it offers a solid, predictably good dining experience, and is a fine choice if you’re not in the mood to try something new. Affordable, stylishly presented Italian food, in a simple, pleasant atmosphere — it’s all very marvellous, but you could be anywhere. It seems a bit dull to choose Strada if you’re going to come to Clifton especially to eat; there are more exciting places about. I suppose it’s a good option for those who live in the area and just want a simple, nice supper locally.

Zizzis, Bella Italia, the mighty Pizza Express… Bristol certainly isn’t lacking in chain Italian restaurants. Each occupies a slightly different slice of the market — in Strada’s case, it’s the higher end. Pricier but better than its counterparts, this branch of Strada is permanantly full of Clifton’s trademark yummy mummys and their bundle of brats. Be careful when you choose to pay a visit if you’re in search of a romantic meal — daytimes(especially Sundays) can feel like more of crèche than a restaurant. The décor is blandly modern, with now slightly tarnished leather couches, wooden panelling and bowls of signature Italian foods the design flourishes of choice. The food is actually surprisingly good — especially pizzas and pastas. That said, Italian food is never anything out of this world, and why would you eschew a family run trattoria in favour of a London style contemporary chic house of pasta?

This is yet another Italian restaurant chain, but this one is at least trying to sets it’s standards a few notches above Bella Italia or Bottelino’s for example. Taking into consideration it’s Clifton location, the prices here are extremely reasonable, without skimping on the quality front. The food here for the most part is excellent and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Plus, they’ve tried to make it as authentic as possible, by having the menu in Italian with English descriptions underneath. A nice touch and one that is at is indicative of the effort they’re going to. The last time I hate here I ordered the steak and I would go as far as to say it was one of the nicest steaks I’ve had in years. Look for a nice place to eat out in Clifton, but don’t want to break the bank, then this place is perfect.

I found this a welcoming and lively restaurant, subtly lit and the tables not too crowed together. The menu provided a good range of Italian cuisine without being overly complicated. I had the caprese and the consistency of the cheese and ripeness of the tomato, was superb. I ordered the fillet steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. I have not had a better steak outside of Texas! I thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will certainly be eating there again.

Strada is located in Clifton and offers visitors tasty, quality, Italian food. The menu is extensive and prices are very reasonable. One thing I do love about the menu is that the meals are set out in Italian with a description of the food listed underneath it. This is very helpful when choosing meal options, but if you’re still unsure the friendly staff are available to help. I would recommend the Gamberoni butterfly king prawns in a garlic and chilli sauce.

Strada seems to have hit the nail on the head as fas as consistency is concerned. They serve a very good, fixed price menu at lunchtime and although a chain, the pizzas seem authentic and dishes such as polenta con funghi are very Italian.
