If you’re environmentally-conscious then chances are you are already a customer of a Stokes somewhere in Bristol. Starting out as a market garden, this now has shops across the southwest and into Wales. It is everything that us pesky greens keep telling you to buy — local produce without packaging. Even if you are sceptical on that front, by lordy it’s cheap! I can get a full carrier bag of the green stuff for a tenner! Try doing that down the swanky farmers markets. This store is quite a big one, with a range reflecting the area it is in — so lots of the basics for a family meal here — potatoes, in season fruit etc. It may be a little more work than heading down to a supermarket, but it really is worth it. Stokes also deliver small boxes if you have trouble getting out and about.
