I went to this place friday night for a late dinner with friends and WOW. The food was FANTASTIC! The setting is very intimate and quaint, very close to the center just off park street. Its a bring your own bottle with £2.50 corkage which isn’t to bad. We had some anti pasti to start, various risotto’s/ pasta’s etc for main and the best cheese cake i’ve ever had. The Staff are super friendly and it’s a great place to go for a special occasion or romantic meal. Now the reason i’ve left off a star– The prices… jesus. Some of the dishes for example the rack of lamb £19.95 each! We were more reserved and spent £80 between 4 of us which is reasonable. It is very expensive, but– the food is amazing. Well worth forking out if you want to impress or have some great food.

I am so confused with the positive reviews of this place? has anyone here actually eaten italian food before, i mean not from tesco? I am a lover of all things italian and lived there for a year! This place is a white trash take on italian food. I can tell that the seafood pasta my boyfriend ordered was frozen and then covered with sauce made of grease. My chicken with ham and blue cheese sauce was also clearly frozen and reheated! My favorite part was the hair headed wait staff wandering around like zombies, not bringing any glasses for water or wine(and confused why we wanted them when we asked) I wanted to like this place, its so cute and cozy but the fact that ive spent the last few hours buckled over with stomach pains says it all. Sergios, your one clueless bastard. I hear easyjet has some great deals to Italy in the fall, maybe get a ticket and actually go there?

Yeah this place was nice enough, but I felt it was let down by a few key factors and reviews here are not addressing them– The menu is on the wall, I know this is rather unfair as it is a common approach and maybe lends itself to a more relaxed atmosphere. Nonetheless, the major downside in this is the vast quantity of stuff on it! There are far far too many dishes to select from. Instead of creating a strong menu with 20, even 30 dishes, the plethora of choices(which seem to vary fairly insignificantly) removes from it’s quality. The dishes themselves strike me as being a but stodgy– very old fashioned British take on Italian cuisine– masses of mozzarella in an oven baked dish. Not really outstanding individual flavours or standout ingredients. When we were in, 2 staff were serving 3 tables and the girl on our table was a joke– very little extra effort considering it was so quiet, and not much going on ‘upstairs’ as 4 faces staring her way for the bill didn’t seem to register the numerous times we tried! She was actually just smiling back at us for ages, wondering why we were looking i suspect??!(incidentally the other member of staff was excellent). I’m sorry, it doesn’t stand up to the hype I’m afraid. Nice atmosphere, but there are far better Italian restaurants in Bristol. maybe not with such a great location and bistro basement setting but still far better service and food.

Agree with other comments that it’s not the cheapest place in town, but it’s still not bad value for money. Certainly the pasta dishes are well priced, and my spaghetti with meatballs was generous and tasty. Evelyns seafood version was equally bountiful and a good eat. The entrée impapata of seafood is to die for– excellent balance of tomato and chillie– and plenty for two. Including wine and service our bill£53, not really too bad. We’ll go back.

Sergio’s is a quintessentially Italian restaurant with over-the-top décor showing off all things Italian. It’s exactly the kind of Italian restaurant I usually love to eat at, but whereas such places are usually fairly moderately priced, Sergio’s is expensive. The bizarre thing is, they have a Bring Your Own(BYO) policy for wine or champagne(£2.50 corkage), which I’d usually associate with cheaper places or establishments without a licence — yet this place also sells beer and wine from their own bar. Rather than focusing simply on pizza and pasta, Sergio’s offers a much wider selection, with a blackboard full of specials including plenty of fish and meat dishes(mainly around £17−19 each for mains). For starters I ordered arancini di riso(rice balls which in this case were combined with salmon, and which taste FAR nicer than they sound!), followed by a main of duck breast with an orange and balsamic sauce. My two fellow diners enjoyed an overflowing four seasons pizza and a calf liver dish which they both enjoyed just as much. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient and, apart from the slightly cheesy music, we were all very happy customers. My biggest criticism of Sergio’s, however, would be about the dessert course that followed. We decided to share one because we were pretty full, and chose Tiramasu since this is a class Italian dessert. The portion would be okay if you were paying a few pounds, but considering it was £6.25 I thought it was a little on the measly side. More importantly, it didn’t taste home made. I’m no Gordon Ramsey, so I can’t be sure it wasn’t made by Sergio’s chef, but either way it didn’t have that sharp-sweet espresso hit I was after, and I’ve tasted far better elsewhere. Finally, when we were ordering coffee, we asked what an ‘Espresso Coretto’ was, as this was on the menu. Our waitress, who was lovely, was unsure — and also unable to find an answer from her colleagues! We ended up Googling it ourselves on a phone, finding out it’s meant to be an espresso with a shot of liquor(usually grappa) — and then telling our waitress so that she could spread the word. It’s a poor show when a restaurant doesn’t know what something on its menu is. Perhaps Sergio’s have become a little bit complacent thanks to their popularity? To give you an idea of prices, three of us spent £96 — we all had starters and mains, plus one dessert, but for drinks only paid for corkage. In summary, Sergio’s is a cosy restaurant serving some really special Italian dishes but rather disappointing desserts — in an environment that’s lovely, but not quite in keeping with the prices.

Sergio’s is a lovely authentic Italian restaurant. The minute you enter, the staff are very welcoming and politely usher you to a suitable table. The décor is loud and very colourful but all the rush of colour seem to fuse together to create quite a harmony. I was here with some friends, and we had a field day working out the menu. There is tonnes on offer, and we took a good half an hour to work out what we wanted to eat! You will be quite spoilt for choice! When we finally did order, and the starters arrived, all the fine combing of the menu was indeed worth it as the food was really well prepared. The asparagus wrapped with pancetta topped with parmigiana was very tasty indeed, and so was the crostino of goats cheese, and the calamari. I should mention that corkage isn’t charged here, so you can bring your own drinks, which is a nice plus point. Their mains range from pastas, pizzas, risottos, fish dishes and a very unusual selection of meats — from fillet of kangaroo, to calf’s liver. Good for those who want something different for their dinner besides the typical Italian dishes. My risotto with porcini mushrooms and asparagus was munched up in a few minutes after it was put in front of me. The baked rigatoni a friend of mine ordered was huge and he couldn’t finish it all(they were more than happy to oblige when we asked to doggy bag it for later). Pizzas here are good proper thin Italian ones too. Bring a date, bring your big family, bring anyone really. This place is definitely one of the good Italian’s in Bristol!

This Italian restaurant deserves the five star ratings. Nestled under Park Street on Frogmore Street, Sergios is probably one of the best places to visit in Bristol if you like authentic Italian cuisine. While the pizza and pasta dishes are good, the real focus here is on fresh fish and meat dishes that change regularly — check out the specials board for the best and most tempting meals. Inside your eyes will be spoilt for choice as the walls are covered in murals, family photos and various Mediterranean artefacts. Traditional music plays in the background and for a second you really could mistake Bristol for Milan or Tuscany. The prices reflect the high quality of produce but the restaurant does operate a BYO policy for beer and wine which can save you a small fortune. My only disappointment with this place is that I’m usually too full of starters and main meals to be able to squeeze in a dessert! Delicious.

Sergios has all the rustic authenticity you want from an Italian restaurant. The façade is inviting with hanging baskets abloom and little green canopies over the windows. It is a little off the beaten track being at the foot of the stairs which lead from Park Street(next to the Banksy mural of a naked lover hanging out of the window) down to Frogmore Street and The Academy. But inside it is wonderfully cramped and atmospheric with all kinds of regalia over the walls. It’s also BYO so you can come in with your plastic bags full of vino clinking like an alchie and they don’t bat an eyelid. I found the food to be exceptional. They don’t really present you with a paper menu, it’s all scrawled across chalkboards crammed with delicious dishes. The food is a little pricier than the more run of the mill chains like Zizzi and Pizza Express but it’s made with love and flair and that’s the sort of thing I don’t mind paying for. We had melt in your mouth mussels and an incredible calzone. The service was impeccable, friendly, humorous and unobtrusive. I am going to make sure I’m back there very soon!

A popular Italian restaurant near the city centre(and — for the interest largely of tourists — Banksy’s mural on the wall of the sexual health clinic, often surrounded by a crowd of happy snapping onlookers), Sergios is charming indeed. Italian food is a market overcrowded with soulless chain restaurants showcasing identikit interpretations of ‘contemporary chic’, so Sergios’ quirky, rustic décor sets it instantly apart from the rest. The atmosphere is romantic, candlelit and about as close to Italy short of hopping on the next easyjet flight to Florence as you’ll get in Bristol. The food is authentic and delicious to boot. There’s a wide range of pastas, pizzas and mains to choose from, so finding something to suit everyone isn’t usually a problem. It doesn’t come cheap but this is balanced by the BYO option — grab a bottle of supermarket wine, pay a £2.50 corkage fee and you have a seriously good value meal on your hands.

Without a shadow of a doubt my favourite Italian in Bristol. I bought my girlfriend here on her birthday, and thankfully it was as good as everyone said, i would go so far as to say that it was actually better. There is a huge variety of food on their menu and it is all proper italian food, made with TLC. You have to try the snails and spaghetti it is delicious. I didn’t bring my own booze, but recommend doing so as it will take that edge off the bill. Without Sergio’s Bristol would be a far worse place to live.

We have come here several times, although not frequently, over the last 20+ years and still love the food and atmosphere. The menu is good but written on blackboards, so not easy to read. It is very expensive — £19 for a main course is definately not cheap! However, service was good, waitress friendly, food lovely and for a special occasion its great. Recommnded if you are not counting the pennies.

At first glance the prices in Sergios look a little higher than most authentic Italian restaurants(and no, I’m not talking Strada and Zizzis). But if you’re going to be drinking then it’s well worth factoring in the bonus that is ‘bring your own booze’. We took along a half price(£5) bottle on vino from the supermarket which was simply divine. Add to this a £2.50 corkage charge and you’ve instantly saved yourself at lease a tenner on booze. Besides, you don’t ming paying £7 for a starter which tantilises the tastebuds as much as their Salmon Risotto Balls do! The pizzas, which cost between £10 and £15 are everything you’d expect and more and my partner says the chicken dish he chose was the best he’d ever had in Bristol! To top it all off, the setting couldn’t be better. Once inside, you feel like you are part of the family, you could well be in the romantic hills of Tuscany rather than under a Park Street bridge, but then I think that adds to the appeal.

Wow, Sergios is amazing. I am a lover of anything Italian. And by Italian I don’t mean Pizza Express or Zizzi’s. Sergios from both the outside and inside looks and feels Italian and there is such a great atmosphere. The food served here is wonderful. It’s served with passion and really feels like so much thought and effort has gone into every dish here which is something lacking in a lot of restaurants. Sergios is such a great place to bring anyone. They can easily accommodate for large groups, yet it’s intimate enough to take someone special. The service is second to none too. In fact I can’t think of anything bad about this place!

The food was certainly okay but the prices did not reflect what was served. I have eaten in some very good Italian restaraunts and have paid considerably less for better. I think the prices are for tourists, there is a building nearby which houses Chinese guests and they were here in abundance. To be honest I felt a bit sorry for them as they looked really happy when they arrived but not when they were served. Bit of a shame to be honest.

One of my favourite restaurants in Bristol. Hidden underneath Park Street it is a little tucked away and unassuming from the outside, but the modest, slightly rustic exterior, leads to a wonderfully warm and very welcoming interior full of authentic Italian charm, brimming with colour and character. Their menu is wide ranging and quite extensive, which can mean you get poorly executed, pre heated food, but not so. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed with a meal and I’ve tried a few things on it. From their Ostrich and Kangaroo, to their traditional mushroom risotto and pepperoni pizza, each time it has been spot on. It is also a BYO restaurant which is tremendously helpful if you’re looking for a great meal, but don’t want to break the bank to be able to afford it. I have been there for several different occasions and the staff are always very friendly and accommodating. Very, highly recommended

Literally tucked away underneath Park Street, this Italian place is easy to miss in winter, when they haven’t got their hanging baskets in full bloom. Once you do manage to find the place you’ll enter into a cosy little bring your own eatery, with smart waiters and smug customers who look like they’re really quite pleased that they’ve managed to find Sergio’s. It’s very much in the traditional Italian school of dining — crooner music in the background, plenty of pizza and pasta options, and service that takes itself seriously. The warmth of the place really does contrast with the cold and grimy city that surrounds it. The BYO policy means you shouldn’t go overboard on spending, and it’s not too expensive anyway. Sergio’s haven’t tried to break any moulds, they’ve just done everything you would expect a decent Italian restaurant to do and that’s just fine by me.

It was a spur of the moment decision to go in: neither of us knew any restaraunts in Bristol and we were passing by heading for somewhere else. The welcome was OK. The first table we were offered was under a cold air-conditioner. The table we sat at was was by some weak floor boards and every time someone walked behind me my chair bounced up and down, the dining area was congested, the music was indifferent, inappropriate and too loud. The service was poor, two inattentive waiters ignored us and I had to repeatedly attract their attention — had I not been able to see where they were, by the bar I quickly have become impatient: one was friendly and the other surly. There were no Menus, but blackboards which were badly sited and hard to read. There was a wide variety of starters and main courses — but few of them were reliable standards and the choice of desserts was uninspiring. The food was just good, but didn’t live up to the expensive prices(£80 for two starters, two main courses, one dessert, one coffee, three soft drinks and couple of bread rolls). Sergio’s sadly failed to live up to it’s first impression. Had it cost half as much it could have been fun, or if it had lived up to it’s prices it should have been great: as it was, I was disappointed

I really like this place. Sat under Park Street, it’s probably the best BYO I’m aware of in the city centre vicinity. As is often the case with places that boast this kind of alcoholic arrangement, it’s always lively and busy in here, though there are lots of little nooks and crannies so you can get a table for two if required. It’s also very reasonable, with the usual pizzas and pastas for less than a tenner, plus steaks and other more adventurous fare(ostrich anyone?) on offer. Plus the corkage is only £2 so there no need to break the bank on the booze. Also, if you’re coming with a party of 20 or so plus, they’ve got a room you can reserve at no extra for your own use upstairs. Highly recommended, though more for a lively weekend kind of crowd than for a romantic dinner for two.

The location looks amazing and incredibly romantic but we sat there for 45 minutes before the staff even offered us a menu. The food was not great, the sauce was thin the farfale mediocre. We brought our own sparkling wine and that the best part of the evening. The starters were bog standard and not particularly great.

Sergio’s has great food and a comfortable atmosphere. You’re also encouraged to bring your own wine, which is good because it works out cheaper. Although the food is really nice, it is really expensive and not so great for the good food good price ratio(£6 for a starter and up to £17 for a main course), so it’s the kind of place to go when you’ve got a big group of people and a party atmosphere. If this is the case you’re going to have to book and I’d recommend you get the tables upstairs because the lighting is lower and it’s out of the hustle and bustle.
