Rock n Bowl Youth Hostel

I stayed here after leaving another hostel and soooo glad I made the switch. Great location, close to the coach station and MegaBus stop. I arrived before check-​in so used the free luggage storage. Only paid £10 for a 20-​bed mixed dorm which was quite spacious – plenty of space for everyone’s backpacks and random crap us backpackers spread around our beds. 20 beds is a lot but everyone was quiet and respectful at night. There was an event going on at the downstairs bar so it was noisy. So definitely bring earplugs or listen to music before going to sleep if you’re a light sleeper. Each bunk bed had cages underneath where you can lock up your valuables (bring your own padlock!).
As for the common spaces, I was impressed. Large, spacious common rooms. One was next to the kitchen, another one with a long desk with plenty of electrical outlets at each station and a few couches. The kitchen was spacious and well-​stocked with pots, pans, kitchen utensils, oil, salt and seasonings. Plenty of toilets and showers which were all clean.
I wish I was around for another night as there was free bowling on Monday nights!

Está muy bien ubicado, muy cerca de la estación de autobuses y muy céntrico! También está como a media hora andando de la estación de trenes.
Llegamos como a las 12 de la noche y no hubo ningún problema con que nos abrieses, está 24h abierto y además cuando tienes la tarjeta de tu habitación puedes llegar cuando quieras y abrir la puerta de la calle automáticamente, es fenomenal.
Está muy limpio, es muy grande y no se duerme del todo mal. Bueno, la verdad es que tuvimos suerte en coger una habitación completa para nosotras, que éramos 4, aunque mi otra amiga que durmió sola si que compartió habitación y es más coñazo. Pero es que fueron 15 libras por noche, bastante económico la verdad.
Las camas son literas, algunas tienen mejor colchón que otras, así que cuidado con los muelles porque te dejan la espalda bien rota. No hacía como mucho frío pero tampoco se estaba súper calentito. Tienes opción de enchufar un radiador eléctrico pero pasamos bastante. En al ventana hay un estor pero sigue entrando la luz bastante jajaja y un poco de ruido. Pero no hay que pedir peras al olmo.
Los baños están estupendos. La cocina es una maravillas. Puedes cocinar lo que quieras, y siempre había gente. Además tienen una zona de relax en la que hay millones de sillones y mesas para leer. Había bastante movimiento y muchos españoles. Creo que incluso hay un trabajador español en él.
No fui a las duchas, que estaban una planta más arriba así que ni idea de cómo estaban. Ya que no me había llevado chanclas pues nos lavábamos en plan checo en el baño jajaja.
El sitio está lleno de graffitis y la verdad que es sensacional. Tiene una bolera y un bar con música en directo y el rollo industrial mola muchísimo. Lo recomiendo 100%
Puntos a favor es que te guardan gratis las maletas durante el día de tu salida en una habitación que nadie entra. Nos recomendaron sitios para comer que luego no encontramos abiertos y es genial lo de las tarjetas para poder andar tranquilamente por la zona, te da seguridad total.

Une auberge de jeunesse sympa mais le fait qu’il y ait beaucoup de chambres rend l’auberge moins convivial, les gens se croisent sans forcément parler. Nous avons quand même rencontré et discuté avec des gens de différentes nationalités, ce qui est super enrichissant. Nous étions dans une chambre de 4 filles, très simpliste. Les sanitaires sont pas mal mais le gros hic c’est qu’il fait assez froid dans cette auberge.
Il y a aussi une très grande cuisine, j’ai adoré la convivialité qui régnait dans cette pièce.

It calls itself a motel and makes efforts to seem really funky with the bowling alley downstairs. But it is full of Spanish people looking for work or pretending to learn English. They are noisy and unfriendly. You feel like you are intruding by being there.
A lot of the showers are out of order, the rest are dirty, as is the kitchen. Very shabby rooms. Heard stories of a lot of thieving.
They tell you it can get a bit noisy but not when the music venue downstairs kicks off. Staff and others often up all night shouting and singing. So loud the whole building shakes, all weekend and some week days. Weekends the place is full of drunken groups. Free wifi but often doesn’t work. Staff not helpful, don’t seem to know anything about the city.
If you want to get horribly drunk and not sleep then stay here. If not, spend a bit more and get somewhere half decent.
