If you like to try pubs that are off the beaten track, and tucked away on random little streets, I’d recommend you sample The Orchard Inn. Referred to by regulars as Wallace and Gromit’s local(their studios are just round the corner) this pub is friendly and easygoing. It houses a generous range of ales, and if you are a cider lover, you will be in heaven: The Orchard Inn won the 2009 National Cider Pub of the Year award, by consumer group CAMRA. There really is a cider for every palette here. Fortunately, the pub serves good food at reasonable prices — perfect for soaking up those delicious pints of cider. Pub-grub delights such as Bangers and Mash(£4.50) and Pasties(£2.50) are available throughout the day, and there is an outside seating/smoking area. In the summer, this area comes alive, and you will find an interesting mixture of punters, from students to locals, indulging in animated chat or simply hanging out. For an authentic pub experience, I’d definitely recommend this place.
