I went to this club last weekend and had a great night, but that was mainly due to the music and the fact I was with two good friends. I like the layout, but they really need to improve their sound system; trying to listen to music in one room and being able to hear music from the room next door drifting through is really quite annoying! The music was fairly muffled too. Great smoking area though and I didn’t once to have to queue for the toilets, which is a first! Would probably go back.

I went for New Years Eve! It was a really good event, the music was incredible. They always have great music, different rooms play different music, you have house, drum and bass, grime etc. The drinks are overly expensive though, if you want to get drunk take a fair amount of money with you! The actual venue did let me down a little bit but it was still pretty good, I would return if the lineup is worth it!

I’ve only been here on a handful of ocassions and I’ve had some great fun and very different nights at Motion. The very first time I was in here, the Sound System was dreadful, I came home with ringing ears! Never good. I now always bring my own earplugs out with me but you can get earplugs behind the bar. Recommend you avail of them, though I have to say, the Sound System is now greatly improved. The last gig I went to here was The Greatest Show on Earth. We arrived bright and early before the place got too busy. The place end up getting very busy. There was a queue to get into the room where Arcadia crowd were pulling off their circus stunts. Its such a shame that it was a horrible rainy night the night I was here as outside has always been my favourite place at motion, go inside let off some steam on the dancefloor and then head outside to let off some steam. Motion does attract its fair share of topshops, at the last gig I turned to another girl who was clearly stressed at the number of rude girls barging through the crowd and rudely pushing people aside. It has a far edgier less wholesome vibe than The Island. It is a superb venue though and I love the idea of them doing more ‘festival’ nights like they had for Greatest Show on Earth. Fingers crossed for better weather though.

Skate park by day, filled with teenage bmxers, club by night, filled with gurning Skins extras. Motion took off a couple of years ago with a few parties staged in its ramp. The promoters realised they were on to a good thing, and before you knew it, the skate ramps were being totally dismantled for nights of mayhem from 8 til late. Attracting some seriously big names on the electronic music scene, over the past few years Motion has really outdone itself. Sometimes a little too trendy for its own good, Motion can get uncomfortably packed, especially on rainy nights when there’s no overspill into the outdoor smoking area. I also feel that the warehouse doesn’t provide the best acoustics, reducing all music to a bassy throbbing. That said, a party in a skate park never fails to provide a sense of occasion and there are clearly some very skilled individuals working on its promotion, bookings and decoration.

Motion is the best Club in Bristol. Full Stop. It is hard to describe the level of excitement I get when visiting, but I’ll give it a go. Upon finally reaching it(its a bit in the middle of nowhere) you feel that you have come to some sort of clubbers paradise. The ‘Cavern’ paves way to the ‘The Tunnel’ and then… THEMAINROOM!!! Each room has its own distinct soundtrack and flavour but the vibes in the main room are the main reason why DJs voted it into the top 100 clubs INTHEWORLD in DJ Mag’s annual survey. I have seen Crookers and Deadmau5 play here and have been blown away both times. You’ll find a very friendly crowd(perhaps owing to a substance or two), great music and an atmosphere that cannot be put into words. Motion is the epitome of Bristol’s clubbing scene, it deserves to be sampled at least once. Drinks are expensive but most of you won’t be drinking anyway. Note this is the only review I have used capitals for emphasis in. It’s that good.

I had heard a lot about motion before I finally managed to go there ‘the night club in a skate park’ had got my ears pricked. So when I finally got to go there to watch Plump DJ’s I was very excited. Walking across the courtyard you cant help but feel excited as you hear the music booming in the barn-like buildings. Each room gets better as you make your way to the main room, past the neon and dark corners. There is very little you could do to make this venue fell more like a rave, when this is combined with world class acts you have an unbeatable night out!

I don’t skate and have only ever been here once for a club night, so my opinion on this skate park is a little ill informed, but I have been twice during a works Xmas do and as a venue it is fantastic. AS you walk in you’re straight into the first of two smaller rooms, directly behind the bar is the second smalle. If you walk down the corridor to the right you will enter the main room. During the day this where the skaters turn their tricks on the half-pipe dwells, but by night it is transformed into a sea of bodies writhing to the sounds of pumping tunes The club is blessed with a large outdoor smoking area, by the river, with wooden benches, tables and marquees for when the weather turns sour. Great venue in my opinion

By day a skate park and by night a club, this is a place for ravers. It’s a bit in the middle of nowhere, behind Temple Meads, with warehouses round it. I suppose that means they can play music louder. Makes it a bit crap when you have to go, you either have to walk miles or get a cab. You could miss it as well if you were in a cab. The noise should guide you though. When I turned up(at the end of Venn Festival party) they were playing dub step. Lots of smoke, big dollops of bass and people looking vacant, all as it should be then. There’s an outside area which has a canal running along side it — I’m sure someone will fall in at some point. The various rooms are what I would politely call in the ‘industrial’ school of interior design. They certainly haven’t spent undue amounts of money on lots of paint. Covers aren’t usually too bad. It does sell out(despite its big size, so it must be doing pretty well) sometimes so possibly worth booking in advance.

I have never skated here because well… the one time I tried skate boarding I tried to drop in on a ramp and couldn’t break into a run for a month afterwards– running is over rated anyway but a good old stomp isn’t however, which leads me on to my review of motion as a music venue. Basically I love it — the outdoor part(under a tent type thing) is my favourite part — it is next to the river and depending on the music it is normally less intense out here than inside plus you can have a sneaky fag. Like any venue it depends what they have on but this place is a little different and if you like what is on on your night of choice and you are with a good crowd you can’t really go wrong! Nonetheless, if you like going out in the centre on a hen do then puking in the fountains then this probably isn’t for you!

This one’s a bit of an oddity — by day Motion is a skate park, by night it’s a throbbing superclub hosting some of the biggest names in the country. Quite how this happened no one seems quite sure, though the fact that the main ‘ramp room’ can host several thousand punters might have something to do with it. There are also two smaller rooms(both with dancefloors) and a huge garden which favours more chilled out tunes. Some of the city’s biggest promoters, such as Blowpop and Just Jack, put on nights, though for me personally it can never quite escape its routes as a skatepark, with the huuuuuuuge main room lacking atmosphere and decent sound, and there aren’t enough toilets to go around on the busiest nights.

Definitely the up-and-coming club of Bristol for underground dance music events. Wicked soundsystem, friendly crowd(possibly due to the slightly out-of-town location only people who really meant to come here end up here), clean and tidynice outdoor smoking area/terrace. One of my preferred places to go these days!

Weekends have never been the same ever since Motion Skate Park begun hosting big club nights. AS you walk in you’re straight into the first of two smaller rooms, directly behind the bar is the second smaller taking the corridor to the right will lead you to the main room of delight. The main room where during the day the half-pipe dwells, is by night transformed into a sea of bodies writhing to sounds pumping through a hyped up 50K rig! The club is blessed with a large outdoor smoking area, by the river, with wooden benches, tables and marquees for when the weather turns sour. All in all a fantastic club, a personal favourite!

A wicked skate and bmx park during the day which metamorphoses into a bad ass nightclub that boasts front line acts and top international DJs.
