Last year I thought I’d let my inner-child free and buy a recorder. It was Christmas time and I thought it would be a nice idea to do a recital. Yes-I was in a slightly weird mood. I went into Pianos(which don’t just sell pianos) to buy a recorder, which was only £10 and a guide book to get me started and refresh my memory for only £3. This is a great place to go if you or somebody you know, most likely a child, has a keen interest in learning a new musical instrument. They even have a spongebob squarepants ukulele which caught my eye. They sell trumpets, saxophones, triangles, guitars and… yes…pianos too!

I’m always finding myself popping in and out of Mickleburgh’s and I must say that it is probably my favourite music shop in Bristol. There is a large red sign at the front of the shop saying, rather misleadingly, PIANOS. Whilst they do sell pianos, that’s really only scratching the surface. The first floor is mainly for classical instruments, whilst the basement houses the guitars, drum kits and amplifiers. There’s a lovely corner full of classical guitars, where I can happily while away half an hour, given the chance. The staff are very friendly and never pressure you to buy. There are finance options available for some instruments, too — useful if you’re lusting over that new Martin Acoustic, but haven’t quite saved enough pennies yet!
